This is another unnecessary bill. If someone wants to rub one out to porn let them. Also Utah was #1 in porn consumption per capita recently. It’s another case of old out of touch white men trying to dictate how other people live there lives.

Who cares stupid bills get proposed all the time. There's a boatload of Mormons there who practice abstinence which would account for it. Remember when California PASSED a measure that required pornstars to wear condoms in their vids? Talk about a mass exodus of the porn industry... Another example of CA killing off businesses and erections for pubescent teenagers.

Porn adds nothing to society. Should be banned globally IMO.

What an absolute joke of legislation, there's probably hundreds of legitimately prudent issues they could be attempting to solve, instead they're out here trying to prevent people, including adults, from watching porn :lol

Between this and worrying about what gender Potato Head is or what's in Dr. Seuss' books, this country seems to really prioritize the important issues first

An outright ban is probably a bad idea, but porn is definitely an issue with children today. It is common for kids as young as 8 in 2nd grade to be viewing ridiculous gang bangs and such. At that age a lot of them still believe in Santa Claus...it's bad. And viewing today's porn completely skews their ideas of what relationships are and what sex is. It fcks them them up TBH, both girls and boys. This issue goes beyond parenting too, parents can't control what other kids are showing everyone at school.

Adults?...I agree that trying to dictate adult viewers is probably a bad idea. Although porn addiction among adults is basically an unspoken epidemic too, got to let adults be adults.

IDK what the answer is here, it's tricky...but I'm probably going to lean more conservative on this one.

Porn should be banned outright -- and the government should license prostitutes as "sexual therapists." We need to start treating sex as a mental health issue. Every citizen should have available to them, multiple free sessions with a licensed sexual therapist per year.

Mass shootings would plummet dramatically.

Sex therapists you say?

That might solve Chewing’s problems.

Never say never. It might end up being like with online gambling, where in some countries it's regulated and in others not allowed. If it ends up being a black market situation it would probably be good to pick up some Monero crypto.

I watch porn sometimes like most people, but I'm fully aware that the level of availability of online porn is inherently bad for society, Primetime touched a bit on it as well.

I read about some study for one of the northern EU countries, can't be bothered to look up which one.
It was something like 25ish% of all males over 30ish years which had trouble getting hard when actually being with a woman in real life. Common traits among them was that they:
1) Watched quite a bit of porn.
2) Would often fast forward to the part where the actors climate.

Another thing in this, is the increase in the use of various drugs which has become quite popular. There was an example of that right here on ISH, someone was in a thread discussing his previous use of Adderall and "how it gave him an itch to jerk off all the time" or something like that because of dopamine release.

Researchers from Indiana University say that nearly 1 in 3 U.S. men, ages 18 to 24, reported no sexual activity in the past year.

The study -- co-authored by Debby Herbenick, professor in sexual and reproductive health at the IU School of Public Health-Bloomington, and Peter Ueda, a physician-researcher at Karolinska Institutet in Sweden -- looked at the sexual activity and number of partners of 18- to 44-year-olds in the U.S. from 2000 to 2018.

During that time, the researchers found that sexual inactivity had increased from 19 percent to 31 percent among men age 18 to 24. Men and women age 25 to 34 also reported an increase in sexual inactivity during the time period. This coincided with decreases in those who had sex at least weekly and in those with one sexual partner over the past year, while the proportion of men and women with two or more partners in the past year had remained largely unchanged.

https://news.iu.edu/stories/2020/06/iub/releases/15-sexual-inactivity-young-men-united-states-no-sex-debby-herbenick.html

So about 31% of US men from age 18-24 haven't had sex in a year, I think it's about 15-18% for women.
I'd be surprised if we don't see close to the same here on ISH for that age bracket, maybe a thread with suggestions on how to get laid would help with all the tension around here.

So yeah, it's something that should be allowed in a free world, but the issue is in just how good these companies are at getting you to do it more and other societal elements, which in combination enables degenerate behavior.

How could they stop people from viewing it?

Make it illegal to produce it.
Block any kind of payment type towards the companies that facilitate it.

For adults it's a ridiculous concept and it won't work anyways. Order your phone from another state, drive to another state to buy it and/or use a vpn. Impossible to stop on the local level like that. It would require massive concentrated and coordinated effort on a national scale to ban pornography in any one country, and even then it would be an unwinnable uphill battle. This laughable proposed solution is an example of people that, very clearly, do not understand modern day technology. We see this all throughout history on a global scale.

As for children, unfortunately, there is no answer period if they are in a public school. They will see it with other kids at school even if you restrict their internet access entirely.

As a result, parents should be responsible people, make responsible choices, and home school their kids until middle or high school yet figure out a way to keep them socialized with other like minded parents on the subject of restricting pornography. Personal responsibility has largely fallen out of favor with the public for whatever reason(s). Most people do not have it in them to do this instead of letting someone else babysit their kids, and even for the ones that do have it in them, it continues to grow increasingly difficult to pull off in households that require multiple income streams to get by thereby rendering it almost impossibly difficult for one parent to stay at home. And even then you'd have to walk the tightrope of looking after your kid's best interest and not being overbearing and over controlling thus creating other emotional problems. Most people do not have it in them to accurately walk this tightrope as it is neigh impossible anyways.

Good, bad, or indifferent are irrelevant here. Technological advances will not be stopped or controlled.

Are you familiar with Onlyfans it’s basically a site where many female “Social influencers” (IG thots, streamers). Take advantage of desperate incels by posting nudes on the site. It’s very sad because these men really think they’re having a exclusive connection when really they’re just an human atm to these women. A good chunk of they’re followers are also teenagers and they too think they have a connection with these women using mom and dad’s credit cards.

It's a pretty crazy thing huh? Check this out, it's just a few weeks ago:

A university in the US hosted a seminar this week, which saw OnlyFans content creators opening up about their experiences of digital sex work.

The panel took part in Ohio State University's 'Sex Week', which is run by Student Advocates for Sexual Health Awareness.

The seminar, called 'OnlyFans: Behind The Scenes', was held last Saturday (20 February).

A summary of the event reads: "Starting an OnlyFans? Join us for a panel with OnlyFans content creators to discuss their experiences and destigmatising digital sex work."

It'll be interesting to see which direction this porn thing goes, it'll probably just get worse and worse. Once religion is phased out there'll be no one who wants to argue against porn, maybe some scientist who by then will have more evidence like the study I read, which was still not considered anything conclusive as it's still early in the overall scheme of things. But by then, politicians will probably be getting money from the drug companies to never say anything against porn, because they for sure wish everyone has a limp dick.

So we know Highwhey abuses adderall while jerking off to porn all the time and it has lead him to withdraw from real life sexual experiences and problems with impotence.

Fascinating.

So the study confirms what we already knew, women are sharing the same guys. As they get older with careers, the combination of good looks and now salary, plus unmarried men.... women start sharing the top 10%. Funniest thing of all, women claim to make less on average which is a lie, but studies also show that women don't want to date men that make less than them. Good luck future single men haha.
