I guess it depends on where new movie releases go.
If the streaming networks keep new releases on BEYOND the coronavirus pandemic, movie theatres are probably screwed forever.
But if they only do this for maybe 2021, but from 2022 and beyond keep new movie releases almost entirely in theatres then I guess theatres should do fine.
I never used to go to the movies much, but went a ton in 2019 thanks to movie threater pass plans that were too good to pass up. Was fun.

I just read an article about the resurgence of Movie Theatres in China since they've recovered. It was considered a major surprise because of all the streaming, but the implication was that the "event" structure the theatre provides is something streamers found to be missing. I'm not sure it makes sense to project that down the road, as I'm guessing that the "event" quality of it will eventually wear off. But how long that will take who knows, and perhaps it'll be a trend line dead, to a spike, to finally falling back to it's normal status. I know that all the theatres around me had begun trying to create a more event like atmosphere around going to the movies. Expanded food menus with in theatre delivery, a full bar, and the recliner seats. It shrunk the capacity of the theatres dramatically, but typically those theatres were mostly empty for most showings anyway. It was something that existed in some theatres near me before that, but the model had seemed to transition to all but one theatre right when everything shut down.
For full disclosure, I'm a big theatre guy. I love going. I enjoy going by myself. I like revival showings where I get to see something I've seen a million times, but was too young to have seen on the big screen. Seeing those revival flicks really sold me on how much different an experience seeing something in a theatre is as opposed to at home, regardless of how good the TVs and sound systems have gotten.

New movies are pretty shit these days anyway. All the good movies are remakes.

idk about "all the good movies are remakes", but i do agree that recent films have been absolute shit.
they need to stop slacking and release some good films.

I only said trump was the one to blame for it and when i came back here a few hours later after saying that, it's gone already. :(
That’s ok, log into one of your other 50 accounts and reply to yourself
And people would go to the movies again if there was something worth watching for once
