Dwight has continued to be a defensive stalwart, he's quietly picked up either a steal or blocked shot in each of his last 9 games

averaging .7 steals, 1.4 blocks, and 9 rebounds per game in only 19.5 minutes per game (half of a starters' minutes) from the bench

those are per 36 minutes rates of 16.2 boards, 1.3 steals and 2.6 blocked shots

the team's 7-2 in these games with two close losses

passed Lakers greats A.C. Green and Michael Cooper in career steals, James Worthy is within striking distance

Dwight is a great backup center.

Lakers not locking him up day 1 was the dumbest blunder of free agency.

why has dwight only played 9 games? injuries or dnp?

i agree that not signing him was the lakers biggest blow. maybe not now, but it'll bite them in the playoffs.

Dwight played all the games. It's his last 9 he's been averaging 10/10 off the bench. Lakers wish Gasol could average 10/10. Gasol is basically retiring after next season.

Dwight got a lot of hate for a few years, so people forget how good he was. The man is a lock to make the Hall of Fame.

Dwight is a great backup center.

you spelled "the best back up center wrong"

So the Best Center in the league is Followed up by the best back up center in the league. A dwight howard not calling for post ups and just feasting off handoff dunks/putbacks is a dangerous man.... I feel bad for Houston that they never got to play with this Dwight...Completely revamped his game :applause:

probaby the greatest Center(starter/bench) duo of all time(yes mfer....of all time). Not counting centers playing together in the starting line up (80's rockets example)

better than walton and parish....

I can see you're not old as dirt

Sixers had another duo like this back in the early 80s, but not quite on this level - Caldwell Jones and Darryl Dawkins interchanged the starting role, they brought the D, they got the stat

Never forget. Even before his injury in those horrible years with the wizards and Atlanta he still put up decent numbers. If he was a starter on a horrible team that wasn't even sniffing the playoffs he would still be putting up similar numbers

"put up decent numbers" isn't gonna cut it

he did everything on defense that a coach could demand
