Some might wonder why I bring up total rebounds instead of merely defensive rebounds when discussing defensive statistics. Since offensive rebounds often lead to easy second chance points, they mean quite a bit in terms of affording one's team a chance to set defensively before their opponent's next offensive play. In this way, offensive rebounds have value as a defensive stat.
