For one, true socialism has never been achieved. But I know you think “state socialism” is the true definition of it, so operating from that starting point: there have been many socialist countries that were set up far more fairly and justly than any capitalist society, but had their governments overthrown by the US (this happened in literally the majority of Latin American countries. Famous examples are Allende being overthrown by the CIA in Chile and the US conspiring to overthrow Arbenz in Guatemala). No socialist state could exist as long as the US does. The reason many Marxist-Leninist regimes became so authoritarian (besides MLism being a shitty ideology) is that they were desperate to prevent infiltration and regime change. I’m not excusing them being totalitarian because it was wrong I’m just explaining it.


Anyways, AOC is a social Democrat in terms of policy. If she is a socialist, she’s not the kind of socialist you’re thinking of when you fearmonger about that word. She’s not a MList/Stalinist. What on earth about AOC would make you think she likes Stalin?

Generally we're on the same page, but true socialism cannot be achieved in a society of men. Humans aren't built to be leaderless. Any ethologic experiment showed that the moment groups have to be built people split in leaders, followers and trailors.
