To answer your question more directly, the answer to why you must a mask is not precisely known. Those in charge seem to have assumed that forcing 300 million people to wear masks all the time has no costs, thus, we should always wear them because of potential (unknown) benefits.

The reason you may/may not want the vaccine is that it may reduce the severity of a Covid-19 infection.

There are many people who haven't been vaccinated, who don't believe in vaccinations, who don't even necessarily believe that Covid-19 is real, who will strut out without their masks and proclaim "I don't need to wear a mask any more!". "I'm vaccinated!"

Unless you want to have some sort of "virus passport" that you have to carry at all the time, I would suggest that you just wear your mask until we get a significant percentage of the population vaccinated.

I have been in dozens and dozens of stores and restaurants maskless and the most anyone has said to me is the greeter offers me a mask which I politely decline. During this entire manufactured ordeal my wife and I have lived our life going where we want to go whenever we wanted to. We did comply with the mask bullcrap for a while but even then I only covered my mouth. I finally said enough is enough and just quit wearing one. I know some areas of the country still have draconian lockdowns but I suggest to everyone to start living your life again if you have not already.

and I will add screw the vaccine. That is entirely new technology with ZERO long term testing. I will not submit to being a guinea pig. The companies who designed these vaccines are basically immune to any liability if the vaccines cause issues down the road.

The technology used by Pfizer/moderna has been tested over couple decades and isn't new just invented last march. J&j however uses traditional means of vaccine.
