A couple in their 80s have bought an uninhabitable home in the south Sydney beachside suburb of Cronulla for $2.725 million, which they now plan to knock down and rebuild from scratch.
While some people in their twilight years look to wind down, this couple ploughed ahead with buying a house at auction recently which many (much younger) buyers did not dare even touch.

They had to beat competition from 13 other bidders to get the keys to 76 Nicholson Parade – a derelict two-bedroom home that had not been lived in for at least 35 years.
Wish I could show a picture but imagine a beat up shack. Luxe Real Estate Agents director Stuart Payne said the house was so bad it had a warning in place for people inspecting it.
“The house was totally dilapidated, you couldn’t live there,” he said.
But the couple were unperturbed by the state of the home in Sydney’s south, nor worried by the price. Only 556 square metres of land
So, in other words, reference to the dire economic prediction thread.
Australia has expensive property - no question.
