Those Never-Trumper Republicans probably looking pretty stupid right now. When asked if he would pack the court and he waffled on the question, that should have been a fair warning to everyone, but nope, Orange Man Bad, so I will vote for our demise instead. Dumbasses.

You do not have a clue what you are talking about. Trump simply filled vacancies to get the court back to then nine Justices it has had for decades. Biden wants to increase the number of Justices so he can pack the court with democRATS since he is unlikely to have the opportunity to fill any vacancies. I find it hilarious that people like you who love big government do not have a clue how the government actually works.

If Cons had not denied the will of the people and had a hearing on Garland, there would be no issue.
Conversely, they could have left Ginsberg’s replacement for Biden.
Quit cheatin’ and there is balance.

The will of the people required a majority of the senate and thats what the republicans had. So you are wrong

Same instance in both cases

I get that America should not be compared to other countries, but you guys are great at turning everything into a political issue. Both sides and the media profit from dividing you guys. The courts should not be a political issue and if it is I don't have faith in the country functioning long term. Another thing is solutions aren't ever offered, just disagreeing with the other side and winning instead.

Who controlled the Senate when Garland was nominated??? If Obama wanted someone to be confirmed by the Senate he should have nominated someone who they would have voted on. Hell we just saw how batshit crazy Garland is in his AG conformation hearing. He dang sure is not the centrist he was made out to be when Obama nominated him for the SCOTUS.

So let's stick to the majority. The majority wants extra supreme court judges? Let's do it. Majority wants dc to be a state? Let's do it. Why should the minority be holding up the process for weeks and months through filibuster if it's not the will of the people?

Republicans did not want to seat anyone nominated by Obama, period. The Republicans said they would not even bring it up to vote regardless of who was nominated.

Wtf are you talking about? They were allowed to replace the dead judges. They didn't create new dictator rules that added new seats. You're a true ****ing moron. Please wash your glasses in bleach before drinking out of them.

The number of justices on the Court, which is set by Congress, has fluctuated throughout the course of the nation’s history, reaching as many as ten seats before settling on nine in 1869. I think adding 4 is a bit to much.

Democrats will do anything they can to remain in power. Don't act as if you're not happy about this. Making DC and Puerto Rico states, expanding the courts....please. It's all about staying in power.

Republicans should play the same game as Democrats. Expand the court to 17 once they take power. Split Texas into 4 states. Split Florida into two states. Make Venezuela a state. Sell California to China to pay off the National Debt. I mean, the Democrats need their shit pushed in so far so they can understand how ****ed up they have been for all these years.

Meh, cry all you want. Personally I couldn't care less but this is political payback from denying Obama picking Scalia's replacement early in 2016. The GOP claimed that the people should have a say in determining the nominee by letting the winner of the election pick the nominee, that 8 months before an er election was too soon, they denied even letting Garland have a hearing, then literally weeks before the 2020 election, RBG dies and the GOP hypocritically rushes through her replacement, all that talk about letting the winner of an election year decide went out the window...the Democrats warned the GOP that if they proceeded, they would pack the court if they had the chance, well they have that chance now and I hope they go ahead and kill the filibuster and push their agenda on straight majority just as a fukk you to the GOP :oldlol:

Payback is a bitch.

You're silly as hell man. Payback would be if the Democrats did the same to the Republicans as was done to them. By blocking a nominee.

What they're suggesting is to create 4 new seats while they control Congress to have an overwhelmingly number of Liberal justices who are in favor of abortions and LGBTQ rights, things that you vehemently oppose.

You have a hard-on for going against Conservatives even though you don't agree with the lunacy brought forth from the Left. You're all over the place.

I'm right of center, so are the Democrats, The GOP have gone off into the fringe, the weirdo conspiracy party. I don't much care about social issues, politically we really can't control that. If these goofy kids believe there are 349 different genders, what are you gonna do? All I can do is raise my kids the right way.

Yeah, the GOP get under my skin much more than the weak Democrats. I'm more interested in the economic policies. Both suck, in my belief the GOP are much worse since they are so tied to corporate America and the 1%...they are decidedly hostile to the lower and middle class.

Some of those changes like splitting Texas into 4 states require the approval of both the state legislate and Congress (both houses). You would need majority in both places, which may be difficult to coincide as Texas is becoming more blue. I believe selling a state or annexing another country would require 2/3 of the states in the union to agree, which is unlikely (thats 34 states). So good luck with that.

I believe adding supreme court justices or making dc a state requires a simple majority in congress (both houses). It is only in discussion because democrats have majority in both houses and are considering dropping the filibuster. All the stars must align, and it rarely happens.

Perfectly constitutional. And you’ll never get 66% to change it. If we end up with a Supreme Court of 17 after republicans retaliate so be it. I’m not sure a large court wouldn’t help minimize purely partisan decisions. As you increase the count hopefully you get more reasonable people actually down to listen to an argument and fall on either side.

Is it really a good thing to have so many justices you already know will rule for whatever leftist or right wing cause put before them?

Hell make it 55 if the decisions come from more lines of thinking. I’d be more inclined to believe a larger group came to a decision based on the law than 5-7 people you know won’t listen.

In due time the court would grow larger than congress with each side adding enough Justices to give them the majority every time they hold power.

You would need one party to have majority in both houses of congress AND hold presidency though to add extra justices. How often does that happen?
