Although Stacey Augmon was mostly a forward, anyone should be able to tell from his stats that he had a mid-range jump shot because he made a nuts 42% of his threes from the 18-ft college line and struggled mightily with the significantly extended NBA line (15%). This is a bit like Michael Jordan's game. Common sense posits that he lit up the league from mid-range on many nights. With this in mind, it's difficult to figure out why Augmon struggled at the free throw line, which is 15 feet from the basket. He improved quite a bit in the pros from 66%, but it was still just 73%. Since Augmon was an NBA drifter, there's not many witnesses of his career, anyone know why all these things hold true?

Augmon was an athlete that couldn't shoot

At no point did anyone rate him a shooter

He was an athlete/defender

I guess I'm wrong about the witness aspect. I forgot that the Hawks were broadcast on pay cable and available nationally.

How good at basketball are you?... Let's say you were cut from your junior high team - you'd still look like a good jumpshooter against elementary school kids

That's how basketball works.. my jumper has been broke my whole life, except when I was playing bums

Augmon was all-world in college and everyone was a bum to him and the Rebels.. they were part of a new era

Had ugly form if I remember correctly. Probably open a lot more in college. He was on a stacked team
