View Full Version : Remember when MJ nearly made Finals with a less productive cast than the 05' Cavs?

The 90' Bulls had the #19 defense, while Pippen had lower offense than Zydrunas (scoring, efficiency, PER, and WS/48).
Zydrunas was also the #6 rim protector in the league (2.1 blocks)
In addition to Zydrunas, two more Cavs doubled Pippen's WS/48 with higher PER (Gooden, Varejao).

In 05 Lebron was the same age as Jordan was his sophomore year with Dean Smith
Never mind that a players “cast” is now just the second best player on the team.

Roy Williams said Jordan was the best 6'4" high school player that he ever saw (video here (https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=0800Mo661tk))
So in today's youtube world, EVERYONE would know about jordan, not just Roy Williams.. he'd be considered a generational talent coming out of high school, aka "THE 6'6" WESTBROOK!!!.. OMG!!!".. that would be a youtube title... A "MORE LITHE, SWEET SHOOTING ZION" could be another.... "ALIEN HANGTIME FROM 17 YEAR-OLD" could be another.
Heck, Bobby Knight said he was the goat at 21 years old (olympics - video here (https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=WEd8P7nUj80)).
So the only reason Lebron has an age advantage is because he was allowed to jump from HS to the pros, while Jordan wasn't allowed.. ultimately, jordan still did more in less seasons, and performed equal or better in healthy year 3 onwards (88' onwards) against the best comp..
(lebron was getting swept by champs in Year 4 (22 on 35%), while MJ was nearly beating them in healthy year 4 (30 on 46% in 89')

Dude's comparing peak MJ to baby Bron and acting like that somehow is a good argument for MJ.

Yep, it's hilarious how he considers LeBron to be such a bum yet compares him to Jordan literally tens of thousands of times :lol I've always said the fact he compares only LeBron to Jordan and never Magic, Bird, or literally anybody else is the biggest compliment he could ever give LeBron.
Like you said, he's comparing apex Jordan to 20 year old LeBron, quite a standard to be held too :applause:

The 05' Cavs were Lebron's weakest cast - so if they're stronger than the 90' Bulls, than the 06-10' Cavs (developed high seeds with top defenses and multiple all-stars) completely destroy the 90's Bulls..

This thread compares Lebron's worst cast (05') to the 90' Bulls
And lebron's 10' or 11' casts lost as the favorite, so why would you want to compare those debacles to Jordan nearly beating the champs as underdog??? Lol
If Lebron's 05' cast had more help than the 90' Bulls, then the league favorite Cavs from 09/10 had FAR more help, and was comparable to the 1st three-peat Bulls

Lebron entered the 2006 playoffs with a 2-time all-star center, the future COY, a 22/5/5 acquisition, and a top defense/rebounding team - that's easily enough to compete in a conference that 1-star teams routinely won, while Jordan had no help in a conference that required a super-team to win.. He developed the cast Lebron already had
3ball gets destroyed in literally every thread :lol

Yeah, you get the sense his subconscious is manipulating his conscious mind into making arguments that do the opposite of what his conscious mind wants. He's lied to himself so much the subconscious has begun to recoil and fight back. The more outlandish the claims become, the more clear it is that he's lost the battle to convince himself that MJ remains the GOAT. He's now reduced to clinging to any shred of hope that flutters accross his tormented mind, not realizing those hopes are betrayals from within.

Jordan got spanked 3 years in a row by Isiah Thomas and was crying in the locker room 1990 after Isiah humiliated him.

Jordan is 1-3 vs Isiah Thomas in the playoffs.
1-9 in the playoffs with Pippen.
0-6 vs Larry Bird.

Yeah, MJ has had the worst cast ever to support him. If fact they could only win 55 games in a season without him

LeBron never had 2 all star teammates from 06-10
Zydrunas was 2-time all-star
Mo was an all-star
Jamison was 2-time all-star
Hughes was a 22/5/5 acquisition
Top defenses
Top rebounding teams
^^^ that's easily enough to compete in a conference that 1-star teams routinely won
and that destroys the 90' Bulls - it's comparable help to the 91-98 Bulls

Michael Jordan missed the playoffs with the legendary Larry Hughes while LeBron made the finals with the same Larry Hughes.

Jordan was 40
Otoh, Lebron missed the playoffs with Ingram/Rondo/Kuzma/Green
(19')... lebron was 35, whereas Jordan was the 1 seed without Pippen in 98' regular season.
Lebron also missed the playoffs with the East all-star center (05')
Ultimately, Jordan nearly won the 90' title with a less productive cast than the 05' Cavs lottery team... So if the 90' Bulls compare to Lebron's worst cast, then lebron's high seeds from 06-10' destroy the 90' Bulls and actually compare to the 91-98' Bulls

They lose the tie-breaker to Clippers and are therefore lottery in 2019 based on their pre-lebron-injury pace
But the reality is that the Lakers had the easiest early schedule, so lebron mostly lost when he came back and finished the season only 30-30 in games he played (same as 02' Jordan before his injury)

Thread Cliffs
This thread isn't knocking sophomore Lebron for missing the playoffs in 05'
It's knocking prime Lebron for needing a better cast than the 05' Cavs to be title-worthy, while 90' Jordan nearly won the title with a worse cast on both sides of the ball (#19 defense and weaker offensive teammates)
It's sad because pre-title Jordan was nearly beating the champs, while veteran champion lebron lost by record amount many times (14', 17', 18')
