Zion Williamson's football frame blended with basketball finesse could be next frontier

In 1891, Dr. James Naismith, a Canadian professor teaching in Springfield, was commissioned to think up a non-violent foil to football that still promoted physical activity. He put two peach baskets on opposite ends of a gym and called it basketball. But the game immediately devolved into violence, with players tackling each other to the ground, battling for possession of the ball. Then, Naismith came back with the original 13 rules of basketball, designed to curb aggression and incentivize grace.

Fast-forward 130 years and Williamson is combining two properties that basketball has treated as opposites: aggression and finesse. Basketball and football.

Things I notice:

* no such thing as dribbling, it's just football carrying the entire time
* no backcourt violations, you can sprint back to the other hoop if you felt you needed too
* no shot clock
* everyone off ball grapples to set screens etc
* on ball a defender seems to hang back from the ball carrier as if to stop him from driving to make a layup or something?
* at first I thought it was layups only because nobody was taking wide open jumpers but then I saw someone launch a 30 footer and brick it then I realized all these guys just can't shoot

These people looked really bad as far as strictly basketball skills go, they had some wiiiiiiiiiiiiiide open layup and jumper opportunities and missed all of them in the first like 10 minutes of the first vid. I feel like with those rules you should be scoring almost at will regardless of the grappling the ball handler can just do what he wants with no dribbling. Would be interesting to see a skilled shooter version of this game but as it stands this just looks like a wrestling scrimmage for wrestlers looking to get some extra cardio. No basketball form or background whatsoever from any of them.
