View Full Version : HISTORICAL RECORD - the 1st three-peat Bulls were considered a 1-man team because...

the 94' Bulls shocked everyone by not being horrible - it was a complete shock that they weren't a lottery team.
It wasn't until the 2nd three-peat that people started thinking the other players must be good too, and revisionist history has lionized anyone associated with the 3-peats..
The winning spotlight inflated everyone, despite everyone producing weak stats individually during the 2nd three-peat... But during the 93' Finals, Magic and Isiah discuss how bad Jordan's cast was and how the Bulls were "really just about Jordan":

And Jordan shocked everyone when he won as a dominant scorer since historically before him that was not a winning recipe. Turns out the people at the time were wrong about Jordan just as they were wrong about Jordan's supporting cast. Contemporaneous perceptions are often wrong.

“One man team”
MJ: always played with 4 other teammates on the court
Right...

People correctly perceived the Bulls as a 1-man team during the 1st three-peat, but they were swayed by the winning spotlight and 3-peat resume during the 2nd three-peat.
Jordan's cast actually played worse in the playoffs during the 2nd three-peat (pippen and rodman were MIA), but the unprecedented winning fooled everyone into thinking they were good.
Ultimately, only MJ dominated, so it was a 1-man team.. the triangle was an automatic 50 wins for any cast that had perfected it, but only MJ/Kobe could win titles with it.

Yes, pointing out how rookie Jordan lost just like every other young player does in their first few years has always worked well to "end" threads.
Ultimately, 90' Jordan led a less productive cast than the 05' Cavs to within a migraine of the title (the 90' Bulls had the #19 defense, while pippen was less than 05' Zydrunas offensively across the board)

Here's Stephen A. Smith yesterday talking about Paul George averaging barely 20 ppg on 39% in last year's Playoffs:

^^^^ But Pippen did that all the time!!!!!
That's actually better than Pippen, who averaged 17 on 41% for the entire 2nd three-peat (96-98' Playoffs), but no one noticed BECAUSE THE BULLS WERE ACTUALLY A 1-MAN TEAM WHERE ONLY 1 GUY WAS HELD ACCOUNTABLE (and completely dominated the production on his team)

You're WAY too entrenched in it now to ever change your view, like a QAnon supporter, but nobody besides you is going to actually believe the Bulls were a poor supporting cast, esp considering the era they played in. Even if you don't believe it was the best, it was easily top 2-3 every season they won the title, hence why they won 55 games despite not having any time to find a suitable replacement

Wrong.
Pippen won 55 and 59 games without Jordan. Something Jordan could not do without Pippen.

No Phil Jackson team would ever be a lottery team, he's not Nick Nurse. Even the 2006 lakers with Smush Parker and Kwame Brown were a top 7 SRS team.

To be fair, there's far more "evidence" for QAnon than there is for 1-9 not having the best supporting cast of the 90s by a mile.

The 90' Bulls had less help on both sides of the ball than the 05' Cavs:
05' Zydrunas.... 17/9 and 2.1 blocks.. 19.5 PER.. 0.149 WS/48.. #12 defense.. lottery
90' Pippen........ 16/7 and 1.2 blocks.. 16.3 PER.. 0.087 WS/48.. #19 defense.. nearly won title
TLDR: MJ nearly won the title with a worse cast than the 05' Cavs - aka he led the #19 defense and a sidekick with worse offense than 05' Zydrunas to within a migraine of the title.. aka no one did more with less than MJ
