View Full Version : The reason why physical basketball was better....

And yes fighting included. It's because it turns up the intensity and adrenaline. Anyone who played in these environments knows the difference. When you hate or have a healthy dislike for your opponent it means that much more to play and beat them then if you like or are indifferent towards them. There's nothing like an intense game where both sides hate each other. You rarely get that anymore.

Bring back the physicality even if it means fighting and the game will be even better. Why would anyone not want that?

games are plenty more intense now than ever before due to pace and speed. walking up and down the floor does not equal intensity throwing haymakers and unnecessary rough fouls doesn't equal exciting quality basketball. it was a half court game vs todays run and gun. and physicality most definitely exists in todays playoffs, refs practically let everything go come post season. that includes hand checking and especially off ball positioning

disagree. anyone whose hooped knows FULL WELL run and gun offenses = soft. before the new rules mandate (freedom of movement), in the playoffs a lot of those teams were held in check and forced to play slower tempo. mainly because a half-court offense eats up the clock, but also because its more physical. i do agree the playoffs get more physical but the last 3 or 4 years they've gone away from letting handchecking go. most of that is banned for good.

Nah dude your just trying to defend this softer era. It's nothing to he but hurt about though. Funny thing is the league put in the there mandates wht they put in the rules they did to get rid of physical defense to free up offense and yall but yall in denial weirdos still argue the shit. It's literally a fact that shit is less physical and softer. It's not even arguable.

And it's not a reflection of the players btw. They're just adapting to the rules that's given to them. It is what it is though

Yeah ok mr denial. The truth is obviously eating you.

Me personally i'm good. I had no problems with last years result. I said after if bron wins another one he's tied with mj and he most likely gets that this year. I have no problem with bron passing mj if he does. I could care less about mj and his place in history i just think he's the best player I've see.

Meanwhile your fakkit ass would suck brons d*ck if you could. Stans like you are pathetic:facepalm

He did when he came back at age 38... 24.6/6/5.4 prior to his knee injury at age 39, he was a top 10 scorer after retiring and not training for 3 years in his late 30s.. Had more 40+ pt games as a 39/40 yr old in 02-03 season than Lebron's had over the last 2 RS.

Oh really, is that why the 01-02 Wizards were a Playoff team with MJ (30 - 30) & 7 - 15 without?

01-02 MJ in 60 games had 5 games of 40+ pts, all of them on above 50% shooting, in that era of slow pace and the defensive rule changes..

Michael Jordan did not agree with any of this.

He complained to no end about the Bad Boys pistons and claimed that everyone wanted to see a "clean game" with "good guys" like him and that NBA fans would celebrate because the Pistons were no longer champions.

MJ was kind of soft.

Responded to someone quoting a post about ppg, like these numbers in today's league are comparable to anything in the early 2000s lol.. The top 5 offensive teams (ORTG) all-time are all from this season. Jordan was a top 10 scorer and his efficiency was relative to other high-volume scorers, Lebron isn't a top 10 scorer anymore.
