Do you think the 1999 Knicks would have beaten the 1999 Spurs in the NBA Finals, or forced a Game 7??

They would have swept. Easily.
1999 Ewing didn't even play in the finals.
Robinson would have been his bitch.

Lol at replacing someone that was injured and didn't even play with someone near his prime. They had no answer for Duncan, no one did that year. So maybe Ewing makes it tougher on Timmy, and Camby did well enough on DRob. That being said, he might clog the lane for Houston and Spree so who knows, but odds are they make it work.
So yeah I think the Knicks win that series. But ifs and buts don't work for me.

Would have definitely been a better matchup. Might have been like a Pistons Spurs 2005 series.

Well Ewing didn't even play in the 1999 series. He got hurt in the Hawks series if I recall correctly. If the Knicks had a healthy Ewing and LJ, they could have run a Ewing-Camby-LJ-Houston-Spreewell starting five. It would have made for a very interesting series.
But with a 1993 Ewing, the Knicks would have definitely been in a position to win.

Not sure if they ever ran that lineup and even if they did it would be a very slow one because LJ was way past his prime and injured to be playing small forward.

having a prime ewing aganst duncan & robinson couldn't hurt. camby was a good defensive piece, but he's obviously not ewing. can't say the knicks win for sure although i'd probably lean that way.

How many 90s finals losing team wouldn't win after adding '93 Ewing? Even '94 Knicks would win if they had 2 Ewings.

No doubt about it. It would be close, but a prime Ewing with vast experience would have been enough to finish the job

They ran a similar lineup without Ewing when they wanted to stay big but keep Houston and Spreewell on the floor. Keep in mind, this is a best case scenario where LJ isn't hurt.

Yeah they probably did it based on the matchups. Sprewell was really underrated in terms of versatility because he basically played sf, sg and pg at times for those knicks.

LJ had a bum back and Ewing was about to retire in 1999. 1993 Larry Johnson and 1993 Ewing they win.
Just 93 Ewing alone, and they still lose.

Lol Bullshit. Ewing was way past his prime in 99 and wasn’t anything great anymore. He wouldn’t have made much of a difference at all.

Lol Robinson owned Ewing throughout their careers. Just look at their head to head matchup: Robinson 23.4ppg on .506% (16.9 fga) to Ewing’s 19.8ppg on .434% (19.4 fga). Robinson also had a tremendous season defensively in 99 while Ewing was basically washed. He wouldn’t have made anyone his “bitch”.

To begin with the 99 Knicks played better without Ewing than with Ewing. Him playing in the finals would be almost meaningless. In addition, I think some of you guys are underrating that 99 Spurs team, it was the typical season for them where everyone was focused and had their roles clear. I think they went 15-2 or something like that in the play-offs.

Yep, they swept the Lakers & Blazers b2b. Who knows, maybe the Knicks with a prime Ewing win, but people saying the Knicks definitely win with him is laughable. If forced to pick I'd still say the Spurs win in 6-7 games

There’s also no such thing as a healthy 99 Ewing as he was 36 with two ****ed knees. He also always matched up poorly vs Robinson as I’ve pointed out in their h2h numbers. Quick centers like Hakeem gave Robinson trouble not slow ass guys who wanted to just shoot jumpers like Ewing. He was tailor made for Big Dave defensively and he was still a beast in that regard in 99. I think they’d still lose with a 93 Ewing, but you actually believing they’d win with a “healthy” 99 Ewing is easily your worst take ever on this board.
