I know getting older means you always think things were better before but politics/rationality seems worse than ever.

Thoughts?

Eg. Cancel culture/censorship online.
Youth pro climate change reform and save the planet. Eg fake meat. Transgender and homosexuality distracting from the highest debt ever.
Politicians higher pay and disconnect from the common folk.

Just me? Anyway to objectively assess?

Eg. I know the rise of china to number 1 economy is predicted by 2028 but wasn't Japan or Russia supposed to overtake the U.S?

Politics have always been ugly, Watergate happened 50 years ago and we've had FOUR presidents assassinated :lol

But I honestly think we've never been more polarized or divided politically than we are now. The two sides absolutely refuse to work with one another, every major bill passed has virtually zero bipartisanship, it's just one party pushing it through thanks to the majority they have in the senate.

But the shit that happened last election, with so many Republicans refusing to accept the results of the election, claiming it was rigged with zero evidence, I really don't think that would've happened even 10-20 years ago. I just hope that doesn't start a trend where the losing side refuses to concede and claims it was rigged, that'll be a dangerous precedent to set if that continues in future elections

I have been around longer than most of you.
Politics' IMO were always divided / but Bipartisan was a functional tool to get things done ....

NONE of that anymore.

What is disturbing to me is to see Republicans in general back prejudice actions , and don't give a rats ass about our environment.
Like our lives we only have one life , our planet does as well.

I always told myself that I am open minded to Liberals and I view the Liberal for the person they are and not for the politics they believe in, but Liberals make it practically impossible to get along with. The rhetoric they spew, the hatred they display for the other side makes me hate these people. They think completely differently and all they do all day is virtue signal and accuse the Right of being bigots and traitors, etc, etc. And this is how they claim victory within their circles and within the media. Facts, reason, and truth mean nothing to these people. If they are able to shut you down by labeling you a bigot, then everything else is irrelevant. No matter what facts, reason, or truth you come up with, once a Liberal falsely labels you a bigot, they win. This kind of politics leads to anarchy. Leads to war.

As it stands right now, I will never associate myself with a Liberal until they cease from exercising their Nazi-like propaganda in order to take down Conservatism.

The libtard shit was easy enough to ignore when it was largely confined to college campuses. Out of sight, out of mind. Now that its starting to intrude into every area of life, it should be of no surprise that people are getting fed up. The backlash is coming.

I want to be liberal and used to be but no rational person could vote for the obvious nonsense now. Worse, is when children (in undeveloped minds, if not age) try to push left agendas without even realising how they have been manipulated and completely ignoring contradictory evidence because of how they feel.

Sigh

Good point. Unsure how it happened but the education system and media being so obviously controlled by the left is so sad and destructive.

it's easy to just blame the left. there's plenty of propaganda going on on both sides of the spectrum to keep the masses jumping at each other's throats.

politicians have some blame, and so do voters for not properly informing themselves on the issues and seeing through the bullshit. but yeah, the media is the major player in the divisiveness because... they're a business. they won't truly hold politicians accountable because then they'll lose their access to them. meanwhile they throw red meat to their base tellin' them what they wanna hear so they keep tuning in. it's disgusting and incredibly frustrating, but what can you do? live your life and free your mind from stressing over shit that you can't change.

Division has always been a key strategy for those wishing to remain in power. In terms of the American media's role in particular, a big part of the problem is the emergence of cable news followed by social media. Once it became viable to dedicate broadcasts specifically to one point of view... this is what we get.

Before then, when the local newspaper and the nightly TV news broadcast were the most common sources of information, media providers had to keep in mind the multi-partisan nature of their consumers. Now everything is targeted specifically by side, therefore it's become much more extreme.

Not that big corporations like ABC NBC and CBS ever had people's best interests in mind. But they had to at least be a bit more balanced in their coverage just based on the nature of the medium at the time.

Social media is like the mental equivalent of junk food. Even as it poisons us, we just can't get enough...

People are big babies nowadays too. For example, a friend of mine whom I knew since the 90s doesn't talk to me anymore because he's a diehard Trump stan. He talked a lot of shit when Trump won and I took it in stride, then Trump lost, I roasted him a bit and he got so triggered he blocked me on FB :oldlol: :facepalm

When you gonna talk shit, you better put on your big boy pants and be man enough to take it when you lose.
