Steph is embarrassing the league. I know they shoot a lot of 3s now but they ain’t balling like Steph. If you’re gonna shoot 3s, make them like Steph. Otherwise it’s just ugly. The rest of the nba needs to step up their game. Their supposed to be pros. When Bonds was hitting home runs he had competition.

Bonds? So you're saying more steroids are needed not less?

Curry's mastery of stand-still, mostly open threes doesn't change the fact that Steph's best use is at 2nd option (and winning use)

His teams aren't winners at the Finals level with him as the #1 guy and an inferior player behind him..

After all, he's just a 3-point shooter and therefore predictable and not dominant when it matters to win titles

Because they can't.

That's why garbage 3 point shooters in the 90s (Like Jordan) would still be garbage at 3 point shooting today.

Curry has nice step-backs and other stationary dribble moves, but he isn't the goat jumpshooter because he lacks ability to pull-up off a hard dribble (shown here (https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=AJzbrBUFB4Y&t=10m26s) and here (https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=AJzbrBUFB4Y&t=11m00s)), which overcomes greater contests and requires elevating/shooting in a way that Curry and all of today's 3-point shooters lack great ability to do.

This is why Michael Jordan, the goat jumpshooter off a hard dribble ever (goat elevation, square-up and form), would be the goat 3-point shooter in today's game - he would be shooting contested pull-up threes off a hard dribble as a standard, just like he did 2-pointers, which would make him the standard of 3-point shooting - his "fadeaway" is already the standard of jumpshooting skill and he would do this from 3-point range in today's era

What are you talking about? A 3 point shot is more versatile and in the repertoire of nearly every player in the league. Everyone HAS gotten better.
Maybe rephrase to use the word overused.

The rest of the league has gotten better (Julius Randle says hi) but they will come up short when you compare them to the best shooter in history.

MJ doesnt have the form to be a great 3 pt shooter. His shot is too jump dependant and line drive... where as when you watch guys like Dirk, Bird, Curry, Jokic etc. You'll notice they barely have to jump to take a shot and their arcs almost kiss the jumbo tron. Having a high arcing shot dramatically reduces the risk of the ball hitting the rim, which is why you see them make so many swishes, while MJs jumpers usually tickled the back rim as they went in... line drive jumpshooters don't make good 3 pt shooters usually.

They have.

Quality/Length of shot increased and % went up.

Next up from OP: Why can’t everyone pass like Magic Johnson?

when did you see a 6 ft 3 player lead a team to a championship? what curry is doing is very impressive reminiscent to 2006 iverson

Why don’t players become as good of a 3pt shooter as the greatest one of all time? OP is an idiot.

Jordan was barely jumping on his 6 threes vs Portland or Washington and barely jumped generally when he shot threes... But he could also elevate though - he did both, which is why he's goat

So your statement is false - you haven't watched mj in a while I guess

MJ had literally perfect form - better than Curry's

Curry isn't good at taking jumpers off a hard dribble (shown here (https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=AJzbrBUFB4Y&t=10m26s) and here (https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=AJzbrBUFB4Y&t=11m00s)) - that alone precludes him from being the goat jumpshooter

Westbroke can practice 3s all day but it won't help him much. It's impressive how he's built a HOF career without the ability to shoot. That's called heart and overachieving.

He didn't do that by himself alone, since he had a great team in the first place.

Some guys just can't shoot. Look at Wall for instance, he's been in the league a good 10 years and still can't shoot worth a shit. Other guys, though, actually do get a lot better. Hayward wasn't a good shooter when he came into the league and now he's one of the best mid range shooters in the league and shoots 40%+ from 3pt land.

for the most part you'll get benched if you hoist like steph. maybe klay can get away with it. almost nobody else is allowed to do that.

you have to remember that for the Warriors the three point shot is the show. its what people are paying to watch. so they let steph shoot.

for most other teams the three point shot is not specifically what people are paying to see.

Is that why Huerter, Duncan Robinson, Grayson Allen....get so much burn? They're assets despite their short comings. Watch a little basketball sometimes
Look at Randle. A guy who should never be given a green light to bomb away is being succesful. Look at his team. The game has evolved and so should the mindset.
