Celebrating his wins on non-playoff teams is like cheering curry for winning with his 30-point efforts over lottery teams like the wolves. Unfortunately, lue is not going to lead them to a championship this year.

The Clippers play a garbage brand of ball. They are the 17th ranked assist team with the 1st ranked offense. That means they are an iso team. Ty Lue isn't doing anything except relying on a team with a ton of talent. Put a real coach in there and the Clippers would have the GOAT offense.

Where are you getting these stats? I think assists per game are just low because they play such a slow pace. Look what my ap says about clippers:

assists - ranked 16th

assist % - ranked 1st and tied with nets

Ty Lue has beat playoff teams like Heat\Grizzles when he has like 7 rotation players out. The media and lebron fan boys fooled everybody. This guy is a legit great coach. Steve Kerr looks like the worst coach in the league this season when Draymond\Curry are both out as well, are you going to fire him too? retard cavs ownership logic.

Well they are 27th in pace. If you go by Team assists per possession Clippers are 12th. Not great but much better than last year. They also have a better personnel this year.

No, he's not. He has one idea, play fast. Doesn't matter if the roster is equipped to play fast, that's his big idea. Utterly generic and applied with rosters that it makes no sense with. James was old and working on the longest modern streak of finals appearances. Love isn't exactly a high energy dude. Lue looks and that and says, let's try running James into the ground and see if Love can keep up. And it wasn't like he had a bunch of young high energy role players he was running out there to up the octane levels. We have Korver and Jefferson and other vets supposed to be running up and down the floor.

Their defense cratered under his tenure. Gee what a shock that old guys running up and down the court don't have the legs to scramble on defense.

They played right into the Warriors hands since the Warriors also played fast and were a much younger roster with the energy and depth to actually play that way. Lue had his team running up and down the Court giving up 10+ point swings in 2 minutes or less while James is trying to catch a breather. It never dawns on him that maybe slowing the games down in those moments and minimizing the other team's possessions might help reduce the wild point swings against the Cavs. Dribbling out the shot clock and throwing the ball into the rafters to run off a couple extra seconds until it lands would have been better than how he handled those minutes.

And it's not like he hadn't just been shown how playing slower might have some benefits. Blatt had the Cavs looking like they could win in the 2015 finals despite Love and Irving being out and James having the worst season of his prime with back issues, because he realized turning the game into a slow grind fit what his roster could do and worked against the Warriors strengths.

Irving leaves then James and now Love is the centerpiece. What's Lue's strategy with essentially a completely different team? Play fast. Sure, that sounds like a great way to get the most out of Love, your one player who might be close to star level. /sarc

I'm not trying to blame Lue and excuse James for the 2017/18 losses. They probably lose those finals even with a great coach, but Lue sure didn't have the big picture strategic vision to actually put his team in the best position to win.

Lue has strengths as a coach. He comes up with strong after timeout plays and he connects well with the players, something Blatt was shit at. He made some key adjustments in the 2016 finals like benching Delly, who after some strong games against against Warriors in 2015, was a disaster against the Warriors in the first few games in the 2016 finals. He also shifted James into matching up against Dramond more which helped stymie the Warriors deadly Curry/Green pick and roll. But overall his faults are so strong he should be classified as a mediocre at best coach who can't do much more than ride talent to wins.

But he has won the last 14/17 games with multiple starters out (Beverly, ibaka) and Kawhi/George taking turns on load management. How the hell is that riding talent to wins? Lol

He also beat Miami heat when jimmy butler was playing despite missing 4 starters in Kawhi/George/Beverly/Ibaka

And then he beat the 8th seed grizzles with 6 different rotation players out (beverly, george, kawhi, ibaka, Reggie Jackson, rondo).

He's the coach of the year, no other coach has won games with so many injury or load management issues this season. Also when Kawhi is on the court they have a 124 rated offense. Paul George is having a career year under him.

However, this all could be the Kawhi effect. Kawhi makes every coach look way better then he is due to the championship vibe/culture that he brings. Even made Nick Nurse look like a genius and Nurse doesn't even look like a NBA level coach this season. Popovich has looked like a moron since Kawhi left him as well. The only guy stubborn enough to not benefit from a Kawhi team was dumbass Doc because he was there for like 10 years and was too comfortable and stubborn.

That will be a 2001 Lakers type situation where they don't lose a game. I can see them sweeping until the West finals this season.

You're the one thinking you're going to win with that dumbass Drummond starting on your team hahaha and Trez as his backup wow the 2 stooges. Good luck.

Seeing how well Clippers play without PG, or Kawhi, or both shows what an amazing team they have. Lue is one of the best offensive coaches in the NBA.

That or you have like 8 or 9 guys shooting 40% from three playing significant minutes. Imagine winning a bunch of games in the modern era with three point shooters all over the lineup. Who'd have guessed that could work? It's got to take a genius coach to win with so many guys who can hit threes which is what literally every coach in tbe league wants to do.

He won a title with the Cavs beating the winningest team of all time. Doesn't mean it was because he was some genius coach.

Spurs last two seasons:

He's maximizing the talent he has, that's all you can ask for in a coach. Also multiple games of beating playoff teams with Marcus Morris as his best player, the guy who has been on like 6 teams in 7 years.
