Throwback 1980's team with current players

Using today's players create a throwback team with prototypical players at each position

SG- Buddy Hield
SF- Mikal Bridges
PF- Marvin Bagley
C- DeAndre Ayton

SF and PF so tough. Not really a lot of players that play that throwback game

Bigs posting up is kind of dead, so hard to find guys for those roles. I think there are a bunch of guys in the league that would adapt well to that era. Even if they play a more modern style, if they were somehow forced into that era and style they would adapt just fine.

Some names that come to mind for me are Lowry, DeRozen, Thompson, Gasol, Leonard, Danny Green, Jokic, Davis.

There were gunner teams and fast paced teams so even if there was a league norm, there was enough variety that a lot of modern guys could slot in on the right team even if they aren't league standard for the time.

Looking at 3 point attempt per team there was a big jump fromn86 to 88. 86 five teams took 5 threes a game. Next year there were 8. The following year 12. So by then the 3 and d Qing types probably would be welcome in the league even if not allowed to shoot as many threes as they do today. A mid range master, elite defender and strong three point shooter like Leonard would have to be highly prized then.

3 point gunner. He reminds me a lot like Hersey Hawkins

And how is Embiid anything like a 80's center? He's probably the exact opposite. I see Gobert. Definitely not Sabonis

Fair. He is sort of a throwback to a poor man's Jordan. I like Hield in the more traditional sense
