I say for each 'series' we sim 101 times to determine a true winner. The sim can be random so larger sample size is needed. Should only take a few minutes to sim 100 times anyways.

OP, are you just gonna randomly generate the series matchups, with one lucky person getting a 1st round bye?

When I ran the last draft, we did a round robin. We all play each other X number of times, say twice at home and twice away, and the most victories is #1 seed and so on. H2H record is the tie breaker.

For the knockouts, do for instance 5 home games and 5 away games for each tie. If it ends square, the team who scored the most total points in the tie gets HCA and we did sudden death. We also did a 3rd placed series of the two beaten semi finalists.

For this you'll need to generate the box score for each match, save it and share them when doing the tournament itself

Since we have 12 teams we can do two conferences of 6 teams each. Top 4 in each conference move to the playoffs. Maybe six games between each pair of teams, three home and three away.

In the playoffs we can do best of 7 series like real NBA. The team with better regular season record gets Game 7 at home. The seedings are #1 plays #4 and #2 plays #3 then conference finals the winners of those play.

As far as sims go, anyone can sim but people shouldn't sim their own games to make it fair. And games should be announced ahead of time so people can set their depth charts.
