Prime Tim Duncan peaked at 26 ppg. He started load management at the start of the 2004-05 season once Manu and Parker started improving.

Scoring is talent. Some guys doesn't have it. even in the playoffs duncan never averaged over 28 ppg, His best statistical season in the regular season is at 25.5 ppg. That's why the espn ranking at 8 is very fair.

Yeah I think he would probably average that if he was the only scorer on his team. He would get played off the court in too many different playoff matchups though, he's too slow and nonathletic for an era like this. Parker\Manu had to cover up his offensive weaknesses in the 2005-2007 era and 2010s Duncan wasn't really that impressive outside of 2013. So all we really have is him dominating in the early 2000s grind\defense big man era.
I think any oldschool big man like Duncan\Shaq\Wilt would get destroyed in the playoffs by an offensive team like 2021 clippers or 2021 nets.

Duncan peaked in the slowest and most defensive era since the merger. Yes he could average 27 ppg.

He could easily but he knew they are other ways that he could help his team win outside of scoring.

He was Jokic with elite defence. Probably he could not average 27 points but his assist number would be much higher in this era.

Naaaaw. He wasn't the passer that Jokic is. Jokic is something special with that. And the moves are different. But Jokic did not play the defense as Duncan could. Duncan did some other stuff that isn't in the stats tho.
As far as scoring with Tim Duncan. Maybe....maybe not. His game wasn't really scoring that much really like that. He was mostly defense and team play. But with the coach that just let him do his thing, probably. He probably did sacrifice his scoring numbers.

He is better than Jokic. But I saw on reddit when Duncan fans belittled Garnett scoring. Duncan's season high was 25.5 while Garnett was 24.8 ppg.

Far from perfect in english, but after 14 years of posting on this board your ongoing wrong usage of the past participle annoys the **** out of me.

On the spurs? In pops system? Nah. In his prime on another team where the offense runs through him he definitely could. Wouldn't win 5 rings that way though.

Regular season wise there stats and games were close, but in the playoffs KG has like 7 30+ point games, Duncan has like 45. Duncan proved 4 times he could carry an offence to a title, KG alongside two other 20 point scorers in 04 got bounced in a conference finals. Setting for 20 foot fadeaways hurt KG, and he was assisted on 20% more of his baskets.
In the playoffs Duncan was a far superior scorer, could KG win a title with his next best scorer averaging 13 points on 41% shooting? Cause Duncan did

Dudes, I don't say Duncan is Jokic level player. I said "He was Jokic with elite defence". It means:
On offence, he is an all-around big like Jokic.
However, on defence, he is elite, while Jokic is an average defender.
So he is better than Jokic, actually he is a top 10 player.
Maybe I could also say "Adebayo with great (much better) scoring ability". Does it mean he is on the same level as Adebayo or a better player?

Here's the thing about Duncan. He was ABSOLUTELY an alpha dog scorer. But he wasn't as BLOOD THIRSTY scoring the rock as a Barkley or Mailman were. But if u know the game, Duncan was ABSOLUTELY an alpha dog #1 option scorer. The most dominant low post threat EVER at the PF. And even when he lines up at center, he's among the top 5 low post threats EVER there too.
Just think Timmy was the type that played in the flow of the game. And had a killer backcourt in Tony and Manu. And Pop ran an offense that was a well oiled machine. If Duncan WASN'T so unselfish, that offense wouldn't have worked nearly as good. YET he could always dominate a game at the drop of a hat scoring.
You have pass first PG's like Magic and Zeke who averaged 20 PPG and 12-13 dimes. BUT everybody knew they were alpha dog scorers. The same applies to Timmy in a sense. He knew he was so dominant on the block teams had to honor him. And he had a mean face up game out to 15-18 feet as well. Since he was a great passing big, he played to that strength and made his teammates better! On other teams that WEREN'T as well oiled, Duncan would have been going off more! And scored more in line with the 27 PPG that's the topic here!
