Gobert is less a great defender and more an offensive stiff with long arms who stands around under the basket waving them around. His DPOYs mean nothing, it's a league effort to be nice to the French, they know he's not good enough to win anything else. He did underperform. Look at the Raptor ratings I posted. His defensive impact was negative in the 19 and 20 playoffs. Those stats track impact. And you can’t say they’re not fair to Rudy because they rank Rudy as the best defender in the league by far this year. And he was rated the best defender in the league by them last year as well. He has been underperforming in the playoffs for various reasons.
