Zion's response when asked about it after the game was really interesting and kinda sad.

Shows the state of the NBA when kids think there are no right or wrong calls, only calls for superstars or veterans and refs calling the game fairly down the middle is not part of the game.

It is something that has built up over decades. It is arlaming for him to see the game this way, even if he is being overly modest.

The Pelicans sub reddit was blaming the refs for a missed call and losing the game. Looked like a good block from that angle.

Murray has missed 12 games this month. Denver has won 10. They are also missing Barton now so they are down 2 starters.

It wasn't a foul, since the hand is part of the ball. Very good defensive play of Nikola ''defensive liability'' Jokic.

Only one game behind the Clippers now. If they could avoid the Lakers in the first round that would be huge.

He fouled him, jokic doesn't play defense. Murray was their best player in the playoffs last year. Taking a 1st round exit this season. Porter JR will not get the job done, doesn't know how to dribble a ball and comes off as a borderline retard.

They are 10-2 without Murray this month, creeping up on Mr Load Management who i hear is nursing a stubbed toe.

In what world is that a foul? That was as clean a block as you're going to get.

****** is shameless crying for that to be a foul. That was the cleanest swat you'll ever see. And it was a beautiful play because he had to not bite on the Ingram drive to be in position to block the shot. You can see the Larry Bird esque anticipation doesn't only apply to offense.

here's proof it was a foul

Nope. Freeze at six seconds. You can see contact with ball/hand dislodging ball. That's a clean block. Follow through gets wrist/arm, but already cleanly blocked. No foul.

It is also noteworthy that MPJ is averaging 31 over the last 4 games with excellent efficiency. With Murray and Barton out they need all the points they can get from him.

I don't know if people are aware of this, but Jokic wasn't supposed to come to the NBA right away after being drafted.
He had been heavily recruited by my team, Barcelona, and he was viewed as a young project to bring in as a bench warmer.
Apparently, a scout went to see him play in Serbia and decided he wasn't good enough to play in Barcelona, so they ultimately didn't sign him.
Every time I see him play I can't help of think of that alternative reality where he goes to Spain, I honestly doubt he would have developed the way he has.

At the time, the general narrative in Europe was that Hezonja was the real legit NBA prospect coming out of the Balkans and people had doubts about wether Jokic would end up being even a Euroleague level player.

It's not hard to believe based on where they were picked. Imagine drafting an MVP in the 2nd round

I used to think Hezonja would be really good man, watching him play the previous season in Barcelona I thought the European gameand his role on the team was restrictive and holding him back.

He had the size, the strength, the explosiveness and the jumshot that I thought would make him a great NBA chucker, like cj mccollum but bigger and stronger.
I massively overlooked how below average his handle, BIQ, motor and feel for the game in general was, I fell into the "He is big explosive and can shot so he will dominate" trap.

I remember when the Magic drafted Hezonja... it was the year after Knicks drafted Porzingis. They prob thought he could be something like that.

Back to Jokic, has there ever been an MVP picked in the 2nd round? I suppose undrafted would qualify as well in that category.

Willis Reed was a second round pick, 8th overall though due to the NBA being really small.

Moses Malone was drafted in the 3rd round of the ABA draft

I think the lowest picked mvp is around 14/15
