you're making the case against kawhi. in 2019, he was #46 in all of RPM (impact). kyle lowry was in the top 10, which backs the critique here. kawhi has an advantage in the playoffs because he is less fatigued from the regular-season. good for him short-term, but a double-edged sword, all-time, because he'll be penalized for it.

He's a great player. 1st ballot HoF level player. But he can not carry an average or even a good cast to legitimate championship contention. He needs a great cast.

But insert him into a team that's already winning 55+ games and sure, he can win a ring and FMVP on that team if his finals opponent is depleted by injuries... as could a number of players in any given season.
