Lebron in his 18th season averaged more points than Prime Tim Duncan

Prime Tim Duncan was a 5th best scorer in the league tied with Kobe Bryant at the time. Much tougher era to score obviously, and 5th is WAY better than 19th - this is just an easy era to artificially fluff up scoring stats.

I thought 2003 Wizards would make the playoffs. They were stronger than the 2002 team.

Players attempted more 3 pointers in today's game. They play real defense in the playoffs.

He only 55 games during that season. I remembered espn asia broadcasting Jordan's wizards games thrice a week.

Bran is done...once you have a major injury, you will be bracing yourself from that injury again, and this time, it will be something else very shortly.

Happened to Klay, happened to KD

LeBron is a massively better scorer then Tim Duncan.

Duncan at 37 years old was averaging 12 points during 3 straight finals wins. Imagine what people would say about LeBron if he did that next season.

Very fortunate that he played under coach greg popovich.

Jordan averaged 23 ppg on 22 shots on 47%TS, LeBron averages 25 on 18. LeBron would probably be averaging nearly 30 a night if he was taking 22 shots a game,

I'm not even trying to knock Jordan here, averaging that at 39 in that era is nothing to disparage, but it's just strange to me you're hyping someone averaging less points on more shots and much worse efficiency, regardless of era

And that's probably the reason why they missed the playoffs without Phil Jackson. Jordan was a chucking machine. He was more focus on scoring 30,000 rather than making his teammates better.

Bron has certainly had his worst regular season probably since his second season, but of course injuries and the shortest offseason ever had played a big part in it.

Per/100 Possessions - Scoring
MJ 38 - 35.7 on 46.8 TS%
Lebron 36 - 36.1 on 60.5 TS%

His highest scoring by ppg happened in a season where he didn't advance so much in the playoffs.

The top scoring perimeter players weren't that efficient in that era, people need to stop holding efficiency against Jordan, who had the Wizards at a 26 - 21 record (5th in the East) while averaging 25/6/5 as he injured his knee against the Kings. He was averaging 25.2 ppg on the season at that point, so he was on pace to be 6th/7th in ppg with his team comfortably in the Playoffs.

Iverson was at his peak while MJ came back after 3 years off at age 38..and AI only had what, 1% higher TS%?

Jordan finished the season averaging 22.9ppg on 22.1 shots. That’s garbage no matter the era. Only bigger trash is Kobrick in his last season.

MJ’s TS% in 02 was 46.8% :oldlol: Even in a league where the average TS% was 52.0% that’s quite bad (-5.2% below league average). It’s the equivalent of a 52.0% TS in today’s league.

Compare him to other perimeter stars in 02

Ray Allen 59.8% (+7.8% over league average)
Stojakovic 59.2% (+7.2%)
Paul Pierce 57.0% (+5.0%)
Kobe 54.4% (+2.4%)
Glenn Robinson 53.7% (+1.7%)
T-Mac 53.2% (+1.2%)
Michael Finley 53.2% (+1.2%)
Stackhouse 51.8% (-0.2%)
Vince Carter 51.5% (-0.5%)
Jamal Mashburn 50.5% (-1.5%)
AI 48.9% (-3.1%)

His efficiency was notably bad compared to other perimeter scorers. Only person remotely close was Iverson (and even he wasn’t that close tbh plus his volume was far noticeably than MJs) and he was a small guard. All the other high scoring wings were far more efficient.
