I'll believe it when Lebron declines in the playoffs

I remember this thread in 2015. Also in 2019.

Dude's 36, he very well could've finally declined. But I'm waiting to see how he does in the playoffs first before I write him off. Even a 25/7/7 playoff run at his age would be phenomenal, and that'd be one of the 2-3 worst playoff runs of his career. The most worrying aspect to me is he finally seems susceptible to injuries after being indestructible his entire career

He took two months off, returned and looked at the standings and realized his team is on pace to play kawhi in 1st round. So he decides to fake an injury to tank to the play in tournament just to avoid kawhi in the 1st round. Then complains to the media about the play in tournament.
Guy needs to retire or blow his knee out already.

This may be a lost season for LeBron, but I'm to ready to ring down the curtain on his career just yet. Before the injury there were a lot of people who had him leading the MVP race. Let's see how he comes back next season before we say he's done.

He will...when he braces from his ankles, the next joint is the knee. And he's heavy as fook.

Anyone remember Duncan's last season?
DPOY candidate during the regular season, then injury and he came back and he was DONE.
Kobe was the same, doing well until that last injury then DONE.
At some point it seems, you just can't get back from an injury.
Is Libron DONE?

Already cemented GOAT, has accomplished more than any player ever in terms of combined individual + team accolades
He has nothing left to prove, he's the greatest athlete to ever step foot on this planet
I doubt we'll see anything close to Lebron in our lifetimes
Enjoy greatness whilst you still can
While Father time is undefeated, and the body simply doesn't recover at age 36 as quickly as it heals at 26, this being a contact injury as opposed to a non-contact injury makes me think that with enough time off Lebron could definitely have two legit all-star if not elite seasons left in him.

This.
2020 was the King Arthur's sword into the stone. We gonna have to wait 30-40 years for some new GOAT to pull it out.
You freaks love to brag kong as the goat yet if he likes challenge a lot, why did he complain about the existence of play ins recently?

Playoffs will truly reveal where Father Kong is at health wise. Unless LA gets bounced in the tourney then that would just be hilarious.

Not really, giannis had the same injury in the bubble last year and he missed pretty much the whole series against the heat and had they won that series he would of missed some of the next series against the celtics. High ankle sprains are prolly the worst “non career threatening” injuries because even when “healed” its SO easy to sprain it again, and again and again in a sport like basketball

Hindered by injuries, the Los Angeles Lakers have been left hanging on to their automatic playoff berth. Now only one game ahead of the Portland Trail Blazers in seventh, the LA Lakers are at risk of slipping into the play-in tournament to make the postseason. The Lakers are off a 93-89 win over western conference foe the Denver Nuggets last game played.

Real question is...why has he quit on his team?
We know he's done this many times, but why now?

I think LeBron is gonna dominate in the playoffs. Calling it now: 28/8/10 on 60% TS% and FMVP.

I think the Lakers will steamroll to a title. People forget they have the #1 defense. They could be 10th on offense in the playoffs and still be in virtually every game. I'll believe that Lebron is done when he sits out an actual playoff game or looks visibly hobbled in the playoffs. And Davis might "suck" but I think he's not even playing at 70% right now. His intensity will go up a lot in the playoffs.

Honestly I see both sides.
I think Lebron was hurt but not nearly as severe as people think I think he and the Lakers are playing match ups. He did this in Cleveland 2018.
The Lakers are taking the approach that Utah or Phoenix can be beat as a 7th-8th seed. They also seem to believe They can beat any combination of Portland/GSW/Spurs.
It's risky but if they win the play in and beat Utah or Phoenix, then none of this chatter will matter.
My opinion: Portland's schedule has 2-3 teams that will already have their 1-2 seed wrapper and may play their bench. Dangerous situation for Lakers. Lakers still have talent to beat all teams in the west. Lakers make playoffs.

They will only win if all the shooters that surround lebron go bananas from 3 pt range and shit. Remember, his style of play depends 100% on shooters to make up for his mistakes on the court. Let's see if Kuzma, KCP, Markieff, Shroeder and Davis will save him this year.
I don't think the Lakers will be coming out of the west to be honest.

would be a good story, given his age and all, but i don't see that happening. i believe "father time" has finally caught up to lebron. he wont fall of a cliff however the decline will be clear. and this ankle injury is the first sign.
