View Full Version : Is the 2021 season the most watered down ever ???

The JAZZ is #1 seed and SUNS are the 2nd and WE CAN clearly see that they are not even that good. They are not for REAL, folks.
Also, the Clippers is weak mentally and cant be trusted at all during playoffs, Portland is weak af, the spurs is a shell of what they once were. The warriors are missing Klay and doing what they can, but the Roster ain't that good either, Houston is done for a long time, Dallas has just offense but ZERO defense, Lakers are on and off and stink.
On the other side of the bracket, we have a CORRUPT team that was completely fabricated by a corrupt organization that is trying to PURCHASE a title, the Nets. They don't wanna earn it with HARD work, their players take time off when they feel like it disrespecting fans, the coach, etc.. They want to collect their Trophy, after the manufactured championship is up for grabs, like collecting a Pay check for a couple of weeks of work. It's disgusting, imo, buts their idea of winning a title. i will put all the superstars in one team and pretend i fought hard enough to win.
Milwaukee is good on the regular season but disappear during the playoffs,
Boston just lost a player due to injury and hasn't resembled the amazing 08 team never again,
Philadelphia has a good center but the other guy is one of the worst shooters the world has ever seen,
The Raptors went back to the ice age, anyways, the least is weak af,
Orlando, Miami and Detroit are nowhere to be seen as good teams either.
So, The Nba is weaker than ever, add covid to that, injuries, crazy referees and rules and non stop 3point shooting from this Robots ( they all wanna be like Curry) and we have a game that's nothing but WEAK SAUCE.

Absolutely not :oldlol: If the Nets, Lakers & Clippers are all healthy (big what if I know) that's as strong a group of title contenders that we've seen. Then you have multiple superstars like Embiid, Giannis, Jokic, Luka & Curry all balling out while leading their teams to the playoffs. The limited crowds will definitely suck, but these are shaping up to be the most interesting playoffs in years.
I know injuries happen every year, but damn, if Klay & Murray were healthy, the western playoffs would've been insane this year

Well, If Harden comes back at 100% I will have to go with the Most Corrupt team/ organization the nba has ever seen. They already bought the chip, the rings, the champaigne. As soon as they give the go ahead Silver will have it delivered. Now, That's what I think, and for Christ sake, I hope i'm wrong !!! i don't want them to win at at !!.

Jazz and suns are definitely the weakest 1 and 2 i can think of. Not sure it's watered down though. Honestly the rules have made it so easy to score it's hard to tell who's actually good anymore.

And I'm saying that guys who are scoring 30 PPG and averaging a very hefty triple double are outside of the top 20. So even if stats are easier to come by now, it doesn't matter. People recognize that 30 PPG and triple doubles aren't impressive as they were.

To me they are scoring more for these reasons:
1-No D ( the paint is an open Highway to anyone most of the time)
2-Rules changed, I see calls on the three point line just because the defender raised his arms.. so 3 free points to whoever was "fouled" coming easily.
3- Because of 1 and 2 above, players gear their energy to 99% offense and 1% defense. Examples: Harden, Kyrie, Euro Players shooting 3s, etc..
4- We have better athletes than ever before but when they stop the game to review calls and it happens all the time, they have more time to recover their stamina, to feel fresh again.
5- More rules changed...
6- Players have become 3 point addicts, junkies.
7- Referees turned into lunatics
Watered Down Era, Weak Sauce imo.
And about the triple double, it worked well/ made sense with the old set of rules, not this one.

They are scoring more simply because they are running higher points per possession plays in today's game than they did in the 90s.
Higher skilled players are responsible for this.
I am sorry you are still stuck in the 90s. But NBA is never going back to lower skilled basketball.

No idiot. The exact opposite. The league is so strong they all get taken for granted.
There’s about 7 or 8 guys in the current league who would compete for MVP in any time period.
In a year like 1996, you had Jordan, Shaq, Malone, D-Rob then that’s it as far as dominant guys.
999Guy
05-11-2021, 07:53 PM
Curry
Giannis
Kawhi
Lebron
Embiid
Harden
Durant
Luka
Davis
Jokic
That’s literally 10 players who have all had high MVP Vegas odds at one point of another in the past two seasons.
This league is so ****ing loaded no single or couple guys can dominate anymore. THATS why complete, deep teams like Utah and PHX can win so much.
A watered down era is Harden and Davis winning 5 of the last 7 while 6 of the 10 in that list were never born.
I mean we KNOW how good Harden is now. He could legitimately go ringless. The only reason he might not is because he HAD TO leave the West and stack the deck with KD and Kyrie.
We know how good Kyrie is and we KNOW he has no shot at ever winning MVP. Just shut up and enjoy the game. If you were smart you’d know you’re spoiled.
We know how good Curry is and he’ll be lucky to ever win a title again.

Look at the Size Difference between Lebron and Barea (LEbron's Defender)How did Lebron lose to Dallas and to That Guy?Unreal
If he wasn't able to kill Barea/Terry/Kid he would've done nothing against Hornaceck, Stockton, Russel, Payton, Drexler, etccc. NOTHING.
Michael Jordan is responsible for about 15 hall of famers not getting rings.
Below is what your FAKE KING should be doing to WIN FINALS AND CHAMIONSHIPS before he calls himself the GOAT.
Jordan destroyed Karl Malone, I saw Jordan Dunking one him and Malone went to the Bulls bus after almost crying to hug Jordan. If that's not GOAT, I don't know what it is anymore, kid. It didnt matter the size, the competition, you can post whatever picture of primary defender you want, there were always switches and Michael always did great, because you know he won defensive player of the year how many times??? Actually Chuck’s athletic prime ended on the Sixers if were being serious.
Hakeem played with shit until he was 31.
On top of that, Jordan skipped out on two seasons, and D-Rob’s true prime ended in 96.
What year was this a truly impressive list?
93?
You put Shawn Kemp in this list....A fringe all star in any era. Not an MVP candidate at any point.
The 10 I named is truly from this year and last year. Not the entire decade. If I wanted to list the decade I could add PRIME Westbrook, CP3, and Dirk.

Plus didn't mj ruin mugsys career while lebron only helped make jj barea's? The unawareness of bron stans is absolutely astonishing :facepalm
HAHAHAAHAHAHAAHAHA LMAO, WOW!!!
5'11" Nate Robinson FED IT to Lesuitcase in DEVASTATING fashion.
Are those the defenders Lebron Faced?
JJ barea was not well known before he played lebron in those finals but He became a sensation after that series!

Nate is not even 5'11. More like 5'6 - 5'7 barefoot. Don't forget Isaiah Thomas who is another midget but managed to average 30ppg in this league.

Look at some of the guys who wouldn't even make most top 10 lists right now; Dame, Butler, PG, Kyrie, Zion, Beal, Westbrook. Nearly all of those guys would've been top 10 players in the late 90's, when dudes like Glen Rice, Anthony Mason & Vin Baker were finishing top 10 in MVP voting :lol
You're insane if you think Butler, Zion, PG, or Beal would average anywhere near their usual numbers in the late 90's that they do in this era.

How is this even a debate? The jazz are the number 1 team in the league with no superstars, a 90's slow white dude and a throw away as the teams second and third best player and a center who'd be considered average in previous generations. This has to be the most watered down era ever

They only talk about the east but the west went downhill too. Weak, weak sauce.
90s were much, much better and a pleasure to watch.
Oh, and BTH Gobert would be lucky if he scored at all against the good Centers from the 90s. Gobert is not A good player.

Nope.
The 90s NBA was watered down and the aesthetic was subpar.
The modern NBA is tougher and more exciting.

You're insane if you think Butler, Zion, PG, or Beal would average anywhere near their usual numbers in the late 90's that they do in this era.
Why would they have to?
1998 All-NBA teams included: Vin Baker, old Mitch Richmond, old Reggie Miller, Glen Rice, Rod Strickland
You have to be retarded to think top level talent is even close to the same level now.
Meanwhile: Butler, Harden, Luka, Curry, George, Lillard, Kyrie are ALL competing for just the guard spots.
NONE of those guys are sniffing MVP the past couple and next couple years the way Jokic, Giannis, and Embiid are in the middle of their primes. ALL international beasts.
I left off several lower level all-stars like Beal, Lavine, old CP3, old Conley, Mitchell, Holliday, Middleton, Booker, Simmons.
Again, that’s just at guard.
LeBron, Kawhi, KD, AD, Gobert, Embiid, Giannis, Jokic would stop Vin Baker from even being all star in this league. He made BACK to BACK All-NBA teams in 97 and 98.
That’s like Porzingis being an MVP candidate last year or some shit.
Why would the NBA not be twice as strong and competitive? These guys get paid a quarter billion at all league level. Which means global incentive to dominate is astronomical. Human population has increased 50% since 1998, and now it’s a clearly international sport.
Believing the league isn’t peaking is so retarded and impossible to argue. Suck the 90’s dick all you want, it could be your favorite era. In no way is it a better era.

I don't know tough to say. There's this perception that international players are way better now but i'm not sure. Greek, luka and joker make a good argument though. 90's had some good one's.Hakeem is the obvious stand out. Then you have petrovic, mutumbo, divac, Kukoc, detlef and sabonis who i think didn't come over until after his prime.

So you impose an arbitrary late 90's time period and then say "the 90s are weak"
Vin Baker was a 21-11-4 guy. That's an All-Star now.
Old Mitch Richmond averages similar numbers to PRIME Jaylen Brown. He's be an All-Star now.
Same with Old Reggie Miller, Glen Rice, and Rod Strickland. They'd be All-Stars and All-NBA....now with more freedom of movement, no hand-checking, and more wide open lanes.
You can hype up fringe players like Butler, Lavine, CP3, Conley (lol) if you want to. Means nothing.
None of those players would average anywhere close to their usual numbers in 1998, but Vin Baker in this era is averaging at least 25-14-5 and is top 3 in MVP voting....right now. The inverse would never be true.

Scottie Pippen was a top 3 player in the 1990s but I'm told he is the equivalent to Big Z or J.R. Smith, whom aren't even top 100 players.
Let that sink in.
Apparently a 2010 era top 100 player is equivalent to a 90s top 3 player
