Remember last year when they decided to sit Zion in a critical period caused them to lose and ultimately miss the playoffs? (Source: https://nba.nbcsports.com/2020/07/31/why-did-zion-williamson-sit-out-final-seconds-of-pelicans-loss/)
And here we are this year, with an altered system that makes records more forgiving in order to make the playoffs and they still managed to miss it.
The damn grizzlies are above them...
When does this team implode?

But I thought Ingraham > Pippen :(
Lol at playoff birth. I honestly thought they were gonna be a better team than the grizzlies tho but they are riddled with injuries.

Was he 3rd in MVP voting this year? All NBA 1st team? Hmm, no not yet eh?

Well look at the bottom 6-8 seeds out west right now...
Dame, CJ, Melo Blazers
AD, LeBron, Drummond Lakers
Chef, Dray, Wiggins Dubs
...what do you expect? Nobody would bet on the young pelicans to outdo any of those veteran All Star squads. And that's the worst of the wild wild west.

Scottie Pippen at the same age as Brandon Ingram was averaging 14/6/3 on 102 ORTG. Ingram is averaging 24/5/5 on 116 ORTG.
Its not even close. A young shook skinny Pippen wouldn't do shit on this team... except ruin the offense further with his poor spacing and scoring.

Young skinny Pippen wasn't an elite defender. Pippen was 23 in the 80s... That's pre-migraine pippen. Do your homework son.

That's 5 years from now for Ingram. Scottie was 28 in 1994.

He's 23 yet he still has to make his first playoff trip, which pip did in his first season. :confusedshrug:

Axe baby you have to do better. Ingram isn't playing with Michael Jordan. He did play with LeBron James but LeBron James isn't Michael Jordan either.

Young Core doe. LeBron was 21 when he won his first playoffs series as the number 1 option of his team. Ingram is almost 24 and failed to lead his team in the playoffs.

Once the Pelicans draft Jalen Green. Ingram is going to be the 3rd option of the pelicans.

Except pippen has won more playoff series than his true first option in the past while ingram has a higher overall pick in his respective draft than both of them yet still no playoff trips whatsoever. So nice try buddy.

Take it easy on Ingram. Not everybody can be like kawhi and be the VORP leader of a top 3 SRS team in 7 different seasons (2014,2015,2016,2017,2019, 2020, 2021)

Ingraham has the best vorp on a losing team for years? Yikes, that's a stinker.

Too much talent on the pels for them not to be a top 10 team out west. No excuses,i have to blame stan van though. Idk why he keeps taking jobs with young teams. He works better with veteran teams (09 magic,05 heat) i really dont know why he took this job. Zion is gonna be another AD,he is gonna do his 7 years there and then be gone.

I think they have potential to be contender for next 10-15 years. But they should do some radical changes.
They should trade everyone except Zion and Ingram for the guys that can make jump shots with some offball movement and defence. They don't need to have any dribbling, shot creating, playmaking or post movement abilities. They should able to defend well and run offence fast and just stay at corners to create space for Zion and Ingram. Like this:
Smart
KCP
Ingram
Zion
Ibaka
Zion scored 27 with %60+FG with that 0 spacing team. With a team like this he could be in MVP race and win scoring title easily.

Zion's missed the playoffs his first two years in? He's taking the Ohio Route-23 career path.

I doubt he can averaged 35.9 ppg in his first playoffs series.

Are you sure, he is currently averaging 27 ppg with %60+ FG on a team there is no spacing?

Zion would get the Giannis treatment in the postseason, plus the Pelicans tend to not pass it to him later in the 4th. Notice how often he doesn't take the most shots on the team.

Bucks is designed for Giannis, just like I want for Zion. There are lots of shooters around him. However there are few differences between them. Giannis can not create for himself, but Zion can do it.
He plays on a team there is no spacing, opponent players heap up around paint but suddenly he attacks to the rim and finishes over multiple defenders. It is so special.
Zion scores 27.0 PPG with 17.0 FGA on a team that has no spacing.
Giannis scores 28.2 PPG with 18.1 FGA on a team that is designed for Giannis.

How much help does he need?

Pelicans still have a chance to be a good team.
All they need is firesale this offseason. Sell everybody not named Zion or Lonzo for picks and salary dump, try to get 2 or 3 solid players in the draft and be a solid team for years to come.
And, with some luck, draft another great player and be contender for 2020's.

That's something a box score watcher who doesn't understand the game would say. even part time casuals understand bigs who finish primarily in the paint at a high % or at the FT line don't need volume to get points. Pelicans run the offense through Ingram 1st, Zion 2nd. Ingram is an isolation scorer who suffers from bad tunnel vision, especially when games get tight. he's the type who tries to draw fouls if there's no space rather than feed an open teammate and live with the results. one can only learn these simple yet obvious player notes through eye test. it cannot be harnesed glancing at the back of Fleer cards or Wheeties boxes

Keep Ingram and Zion and get rid of the rest..
They need a proper pg and some decent shooters. Adams is ok when he’s not injured.
Does anyone know wtf happened to Bledsoe :oldlol:
