"Just watching some of the stuff he did was crazy and we'd never seen it before. Never seen nothing like it, to this day. It was unreal, its still unreal watching the highlights."

Thats why those who say Rose was a weak MVP based on $tat$ don't know shit. He inspired an entire generation with his innovation. Nobody played like Rose before or after. That shit matters.

He was probably daydreaming when he spoke of this.

Is he wrong? Was there another player who played like Rose before or after? Defying the laws of physics with speed and acrobatics?

Deny it all you want, but Rose was unique in his play and inspired so many of today's ballers. Its not only about the stats.

10 years ago, yes. But now? Nvm.

Oh, and let's not forget that he could have achieved more back then.

Hes obviously talking about 10 years ago. And hes not talking about achievements obviously, just what kind of feeling watching Rose in action prompted in people.

Yep, that time when ingraham was just a clueless 13/14 year old boy five years prior to his drafting in the league.

Is this the same Rose that got locked up by LeBron in the ECF?

Amazing that OP actually values a 13 year olds opinion on serious basketball discussion.

I've never seen a more entertaining finisher at the rim, & I saw Jordan.

I think Rose was a unique player, but I can't really think of anyone who could be inspired to play like him, etc. Mostly, people have come in wanting to do stepback threes and wanting to shoot from 30 feet out. Derrick Rose was ultimately like a taller Allen Iverson, maybe a little better as a passer. He had power and speed and torque that we've never seen before at 6'1." But there are a lot of fast, athletic guards that attack the rim and try to contort their bodies to finish. That's something that goes back as far as David Thompson and Michael Jordan to Kobe to AI to DWade...you get the idea.

But Derrick Rose is a very good ballplayer to this day and he was an elite player at his peak.

2011 and 2012 D-Rose, before the injury, was as exciting of a player there was.

But you just knew he wouldn't sustain it. No human could regularly move that way without an injury.

True, but there was something about his style... how he moves, the innovations and improvisations, that really made people want to watch him. The same was true about Jordan and Kobe and Iverson, but Rose was a different player, he was much more about driving and challenging bodies at the rim than beautiful jumpshots and footwork... it wasn't just about speed either, because there are players like Wall and Westbrook who just go route one and finish with contact. With Rose it was just original artistry, evasive maneuvers, outworldly athletic displays. I always compare him to the Brazilian Ronaldo who came in at 20 years old and completely revolutionized football with his playing style. Just a freak of nature, and yeah he was bound to get injured eventually playing like that.
