Reading the thread title I thought he was maybe a few games away from breaking the record, only to see he's still 1800 misses shy. Just for perspective, it's not even a guarantee he'll break the record THREE seasons from now :lol The playoffs are about to begin and OP's more concerned about a record that might not even be broken during the Biden administration

Spurs are going to miss the playoffs again. That record is unbreakable.

Basically just mad at lebron for playing as long as he is.

Newsflash...he’s not retiring any time soon. So if you want to kill yourself, please do.

We already surpassed Jordan in all time points in regular season and playoffs.

Everything now is just icing on the cake. Free sugar.

2 Karl Malone 36,928
3 LeBRON JAMES 35,342
4 Kobe Bryant 33,643

I don't see Jordan in the top 4 for all time points. This supposedly great scorer isn't even on Mount Rushmore of scoring.

We surpassed Jordan already.

Deal with it.

I think the difference between other anti Lebron posters and you is that you seem genuinely upset at his existence. Typing “hahahahaha” to hide the fact that you’re in tears typing these posts isn’t really fooling anyone. Always here if you need to talk though

So we're supposed to "watch" for 4 years? By the time he is setting this record my youngest son will be old enough to log on to this site and be about to tell OP how stupid this topic is before I tell him he's not allowed to view ISH because I don't want him to be contaminated by the toxic idiocy.

Ainosterhaspie

If he sets this record, he'll most likely be 5,000 points ahead of the guy he takes the record from, have the record for the most career points and will likely be pushing if not having exceeded 40k points meaning he'll be in the ballpark of 2000 more career points than the next closest guy. Will be zero shame having that record in those circumstances.

We have the superteams to thank allowing lebron to focus on getting higher fg%. Ask dwade.

Ainosterhaspie
05-17-2021, 02:37 PM
That theory doesn't check out. He improved his FG% every year from rookie season through 2015 with one exception in 2007 where he dropped from .480 to .476. So he was improving even without a super team.

He also hit .542 and .510 I'm 2018 and 2019. Those numbers are higher than his pre-super team percentages, were achieved post prime and while not playing on a super team. Even without being on super teams it is likely his FG% was going to continue to improve.

What do you think about creating a LeBron / Jordan containment thread and dumping all LeBron / Jordan convos there?

Would Jeff be open to that?

Not sure but he only has ONE scoring title

He’s 3rd all time in shots made. 4th in shots missed.

Led the league in field goals made 5 times. Never in field goals missed.

OP is desperately flailing about with this thread. LeBron needs about 180 games to surpass Kobe for most misses, but will probably pass Kareem in about 120-150 games. That means if he ever gets this record he'll do it as the game's all time leading scorer.

As mentioned by another poster it will take most of three seasons to get there and that's assuming he averages 60 games per season and doesn't have a meaningful reduction in shot attempts and with that misses during that time. He he lowers his scoring as he continues to age, his misses per game will drop too meaning it will take longer than the 180 games to hit the mark.

I'm sure that if he does pass the mark, there will be posters who claim it frees Kobe of criticism for all his misses. The problem will be that LeBron will have scored 4,000 to 5,000 more point Stan Kobe by the time he hits the same number of missed shots.

Missed shots has meaning if your position on missed shots list is higher than your position on career points list. If your missed shots position is the same or lower, it isn't meaningful.

He'd have had the most missed shots much sooner if he played in more physical eras where he would have to brick wide open midrange/3s more often than he does now (and he does it a lot), the fact that he could potentially get it despite playing in the pace and space era for a good portion of his career is very sad

Kenneth not everyone takes low IQ miracle shots like Kobe. Kobe earned his right as a chucker that never shot .469% for a single season in his entire 20-year career. Don't make me embarrass you further. You're getting undressed in this thread.
