View Full Version : Should the Lakers consider resting Davis vs Warriors series?

for perspective the most recent matchups were blowouts by 40+ at halftime and AD/Caruso didn't even play

If they’d rather play the Jazz than the Suns yeah. Otherwise why would they rest their second best player?

they need to be cautious, Lakers had the game out of reach at half vs stephen curry's healthy warriors with this lineup

Depending on the odds, i may be inclined to take the underdog here and lay some money on the warriors winning on Wednesday

I’d say it’s only guaranteed if Vogel stops starting Drummond. It’s insane he can’t see he hurts the team lol.
They need to get the warriors out of the playoff picture quickly.

The Warriors would have to lose two in a row to be out of the playoffs. I doubt they lose to Memphis or San Antonio.

Haven’t seen enough of Drummond to have an opinion on him, but the size of the lakers is a big advantage when playing the Suns. Sucks to admit it but the Suns are most likely gonna exit in the 1st round.

I’d feel confident against the Warriors if I was you. Just double Steph literally the whole game every game. Who’s gonna beat you? Wiggins? :lol. So you better hope they win Tuesday.

That isn't certain yet tho. Kong and the brow just came back from their injuries not more than two weeks ago. Plus there are signs it's still lingering on them so it seems they're not completely healthy yet at all. Only time will tell what may happen from here on. But if those didn't happen, for sure they'd have another cakewalk to the finals.

I wouldn't take them that lightly. Warriors did beat the Lakers @Staples when Bron & AD both played towards the beginning of the season. Anything can happen in 1 game.

Not that simple. Teams have been trapping Steph all season, they're really good at getting him open off-ball.
AD gotta play the 5 and just dominate them inside.

If curry's butt injury overwhelms him once they start playing, who will be there to bail him out? Oubre? Dray? Or their #2 pick wiseman? Klay would be useful here if he's available.

I mean sure Warriors are toast if AD plays the 5. Vogel is retarded though so I wouldn’t expect that to happen.

I almost hope GSW wins, because I really would want the Suns to win at least 1 series, and I want the Jazz to get bounced as quickly as possible.

That's my concern as well. He started McGee & Davis the first 8 games of the POs last year :facepalm .

Dude, you're a ****ing nerd son. The NBA isn't "plug-n-play." It's far more nuanced and complex than that. Making a single lineup change has ripple effects throughout the whole rotation.
****ing nerd bitch.
Yes, but we all know that the Lakers are better with AD playing the 5, so what's your point? What does it do to their spacing when Drummond's out there? What does it do to their defense? Even the Pelicans' 3rd stringers were picking them apart for most of the game.

Without him, Jazz will probably get bounced by either Lakers (duh) or Warriors.

Lakers will beat them regardless. COTY will make sure of that. Shouldn't take more than 4 or 5 to beat GS. 22-7 without Conley and/or Mitchell!

Conley's playing though.
So the problem will be the 2-4 record against playoff teams without Mitchell.

Am I missing something? I thought it was a Play-In GAME, as in a single game that decides their fate? Since when did it become a series? Or is OP a dumbass?
Lakers should LOSE.
I'd rather have them play an extra game and have to get through Utah and Clippers versus Denver and Suns.

It's fine. I agree with your point about the rotations, but it really depends on match-ups. I don't see how two bigs would be optimal against a small ball team. I think they'd play two bigs against Denver, Gasol will prove his worth vs. Jokic.

If the Lakers lose this game they will have to play the Jazz and the Clippers in the first two rounds instead of the Suns and Nuggets. Those are vastly different paths.

Nuggets are far from a consclusion to advance, and the Jazz without Mitchell aren't all that special.
In fact, I'd rather face the Mitchell-less Jazz than the Suns.

If Lakers are 8 and beat Utah, they would face Suns or Denver in 2nd round (in that order too), no? I thought in 2nd round, the highest remaining seed plays the lowest remaining seed. Clippers were 4 so the only way Lakers would face Clippers in 2nd round is if both Suns and Denver are eliminated in round 1

I would never tank in play-in.
It is a jungle with carnivores. Reminds me EL final four, open for surprises.

I'm suggesting one strategy would be to lose play-in game 1, win against the winner of the 9th and 10th seeds to move into 8th playoff spot. That means playing Utah Round 1, and Round 2 probably the clippers.
Wheras if they win the first playin game vs warriors, they play suns first, then either denver or portland in second round, then the clippers most likely anyways in the conference finals
I'd rather see warriors and suns go at it first -- two very guard dominant teams
All this said, I don't think the Lakers win this year. I believe either the Clips (most likely) or Philly win the ring.

Lebron and CP3 are too good of friends. Lebron would rather go against Jazz.

The longer this game stays close, the more dangerous it becomes for the Lakers. Play both Lebron and Davis and get it over with in the first half. If it's a 5 point game in the last 5 minutes of the fourth quarter, anything can happen.

Now Oubre is better than Klay? A guy they say is possibly the second best shooter of all time, and is good defensively. Wow.

He's being sarcastic. It's actually a reference to one of 3ball's lame threads.
