Play-In Games?

Do the play-in games count as playoff games, regular season games or they're on little bracket?

Imagine a Tracy McGrady like player who can never get past the play-in tournament.

There are two categories: regular season and post season. Play in games definitely count as post season. If we take the play in concept to a normal 82 game season then you are having 8 teams play 83 or 84 games. Anything above 82 is post season.
