In 2021 "the 8th seed" is the 6th seed. Every spot from 7th to 10th = play in. Everyone knew that going in.

In 2003, T-Mac was certain that he was finally about to get past the first round having the Pistons down 3-1. Truthfully, before that season, the series would have been over, as prior to 2003 the first round was a best of 5, but that was the first season that it had just become a best of 7.
