I’ve decided to compile data and rank the best 1st round exit masters the NBA has ever seen. I'm talking about true, experienced first round exit kings that know just how to quit early and fail to advance. I’m sure I will miss a player or two so please feel free to provide additional data so as to strengthen this list and ensure accuracy. Without further adieu, I present to you the NBA’s very best 1st round exit masters

# of 1st round exits
• Hakeem Olajuwon: 8x
• Michael Jordan: 3x
• Tim Duncan: 3x
• Shaquille O'Neal: 3x
• Larry Bird: 3x
• Kobe Bryant: 3x
• Magic Johnson: 2x
• Wilt Chamberlin: 2x

Are we missing anyone else in the top 12?

*Note: Only Bill Russell and LeBron James have zero

It appears that MJ was handing out FMVP's to Bird and Dumars in 1st thru 3rd rounds, longggg before they even reached the Finals :lol What a guy.

Will anyone else pass the 1st round exit king MJ by getting to four 1st round exits and make the top 12? Or did we give MJ another pass?

Is missing the playoffs any better?

Is missing the playoffs any better?

Definitely not and anyone over the age of 21 (fair entry point for those that went to college 1st) should not be missing the playoffs. Jordan has only done this twice, and Lebron once so I decided not to muddy up the 1st round exit masters list.

Damn Olajuwon 8x. How about Garnett? He must've some since his Minny team wasn't that good.

He could be squeaked into the list, I know some lists will have KG top 15 but OP said top 12.
