We know Shaq was a legend in that series and SORELY outplayed Kobe.
Let's look at AI vs Kobe.
AI - 36/6/4 on 41/28/73 while being double teamed.
Kobe - 25/8/6 on 42/33/84 while being single teamed.
AI also singlehandedly beat the Lakers in game one, giving the Lakers their only loss of the postseason.
So factoring in the whole finals, Kobe was the third best player behind Shaq and AI.
I wonder what that series would have looked like if AI was playing with Shaq instead of Kobe :lol

The Sixers were like the 3rd best team the Lakers played that run
Kobe was the Lakers best player throughout the WCF run and against their 2 best opponents Kings and Spurs

Kobe went up against an elite perimeter defense, what is OP smoking? Go look at how many games AI actually outplayed Kobe in. AI outplayed Kobe by a mile in Game 1, but Kobe was equal or better in the next 4 games. AI took 32.4 FGA to average 35.6 PPG. Kobe was a superior defensive player too. If AI was on the Lakers instead of Kobe, they wouldn't have made the Finals.

Lol this dude is DESPERATE to think 01 Kobe was better than 01 Shaq and 01 AI.
My god dude, Kobe is a legend but try to be objective about certain years of his careers.

Kobe was better than Shaq and AI in the Playoffs, whether you look at the RAPM numbers or the fact that Kobe was the best 4th quarter player in the league.

Those 2 teams would have destroyed the Sixers that season had they made the finals, and Kobe tore it up against both of them. Don't forget about the Pippen/Rasheed's Blazers too in the first round that Kobe completely destroyed - I think Blazers could have taken Sixers to 7 games too and Kobe took them apart.. That might have been Kobe's best overall playoff run too. Sixers were horrendous in garbage East.

Stay on topic, you are bringing up a different discussion.
This thread is about the 01 FINALS.
AI - 36/6/4 on 41/28/73
Kobe - 25/8/6 on 42/33/84
AI was better than Kobe. It's not a big deal to be honest and recognize this.

Based on what? Him chucking 30+ shots a game? Kobe was a better rebounder, passer & defender.

Kobe's playoff stats for 2000-01:
29.4ppg
7.3rpg
6.1apg
46.9% fg%
116 ortg, 99 drtg
Not his best shooting playoffs but otherwise some stellar stuff. His defense was spectacular. All while facing Pippen Blazers, the Kings and Duncan/Admiral's Spurs. All 3 were swept.
AI that playoffs:
32.9ppg
4.7rpg
6.1apg
38.9% fg%
105 ortg, 106 drtg
All against .500 Pacers, Raptors and Bucks. Latter 2 took Philly to 7-game series, and they barely squeezed through.
