Kawhi dropped 41 with a TS of 81% and they still lost. That has to be deflating.

Beverly as a starting PG doesn't really work. He just isn't a playmaker. Nobody in their starting lineup is a good playmaker which makes them easier to defend.

Lebron vs Luka in the playoffs. LeBron is going to avenge his 2011 defeat against a player that is better than Dirk.

Their PGs are a problem for sure. Pat Beverly can't defend Luka and he isn't going to do much more than shoot open 3s. Rondo is a bit better on defense b/c of his length but aside from shooting open 3s he's awful at scoring. The guy will be directly under the rim for what should be a moderately easy contested layup and will pass out almost every single time. Bobby Jackson is probably their best scorer at the point but he can't defend anyone and doesn't create.

This issue is compounded by the fact that the two wings who can have the most success on Luka are also their two main scorers in Kawhi and PG. If they are forced to check Luka all game it will diminish their offense. If they stay off him Luka can do what he wants.

It doesn't help that their D has been based on switching all year. Their choice is now to essentially play a completely different style of D to get back into it or keep doing what they've been doing and hope the Mavs role players start bricking open shots.
