View Full Version : Is Trae Youngs lack of STRENGTH keeping him from being on Curry, Lillards level?

He has a similar play style to both of them as current players are concerned, plays most like Mark Price in my opinion though. That being said, is his lack of strength the only thing keeping him from being in the same league as Curry or Lillard?

Def some truth to this.

Curry is a great regular season player, but without a dynasty level roster around him... what has he done??

If the standard around here is team success... Curry hasnt really done a whole lot in the years he didnt have possibly the GOAT supporting cast.

What has he done without a video game roster??

Trae is 22.

See what Steph and Lillard we doing at that age.

I'd say it's more the fact he's in his third year and these other guys have been around 9-12 years

Experience and all that

I'd say Trae is a much more talented playmaker than either Curry or Lillard. He's still really young. He looks like he could be insanely good.

He cant shoot as good as the 2 people you named...Thats the difference...if he could he would probably be better than them both since he is a better passer than both of them. Well offensively

Yeah Trae’s not even that good of a shooter tbh. He’s more of a slasher. Very overrated as a shooter. He has super deep range but so does LeBron and no one calls him an elite shooter.

Lack of strength? How do we know he isnt strong? And how do we know curry and dame are strong? Hmmmmmm

Was AI ever strong?

Dude is 22 and in his first playoff series and is playing pretty well. I dont see anything wrong with him, only weakness a see is his size (looks under 6 feet to me)and unfortunately for him theres NOTHING he can do about that

This thread won’t age well... Trae might reach the Finals even before Dame gets there.
Not this season, but most likely sooner than Dame.

He is a real good shooter, his percentage suffers because he is facilitates for his team running the point. If he was playing 2 guard, running off screens, getting to his spots focusing on scoring all game his percentages would be much higher. Let Steph and Curry control the majority of the offense like Trae and see how well they shoot night in and night out.

Curry and Dame are better shooters at this point but the gap is not as wide as the numbers suggest. Curry, Dame and Beal play the 2 guard, the team has designed their offense to get those guys open looks.
Trae is playing the point, his main job is to run the offense and setup his scorers, his not getting the same looks as those guys and expending a lot of injury setting up other guys.

Here we go again... Curry stan calling others floppers when his hero is one of the biggest floppers in the league.

As for the OP... Curry's strength has nothing to do with him being a 3pt specialist.

high iq posts. imagine trae's efficiency if he had a klay thompson/wiggins to guard the opposing teams best guard nightly while he stood in the corner on defense.

That would also mean him potentially dropping at least 50 points in a playoff game if he went against all odds. What more if he leads his team to a win.

Total joke argument Chico. Curry has one of the lowest FtRs of all time. He averaged 5 free throws on 30+ ppg volume. And contextually never consistently flops in the lane to get his game going. Trae does that all day. He plays like a bitch. Just like how you type Chico.

Trae is a very different player than Dame/Curry. More of a playmaker/ref baiter. Not as good a shooter.

Kind of a smaller version of Harden. A little strange that he is taking far fewer 3s this year while also shooting them worse.

I can tell you have never played a minute of competitive basketball in your life. Trae is one of the top scorers in the paint for point guards. If you want him to jump around like Ja that's not his game, plus playing reckless eventually leads to injury. Hi IQ players play to their strengths that's what he does but no matter what Trae does you will not give him credit because you just don't like him.

It takes a lot of skill to get in the lane consistently and score/set up others. I am not a fan of the ref baiting but I am not going to call him a bitch for doing it.

Well then me and you don't like the same type of basketball then. Anybody that by your own admission is flopping like harden isn't playing the game right in my book. The only reason I tolerate harden now is because he's ditched that style since joining the nets.
