An underrated player that doesn't get his due props, because he was an asshole.

Absolute beast in his day, probably better career than Curry in terms of winning as the number 1 option.

That and playing in the ABA a lot, guys that played in the ABA in their prime are underrated because their NBA stats look less impressive(Dr J and Gilmore would be higher on the all time lists if they played NBA only).

If Shaq had shot FTs this way he'd probably be the all time leading scorer.

Ricky Barry has the most egregious quit job there's probably ever been in professional sports, at least non betting related

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AjHa6_ZIuB0

After getting into an altercation and noticing his teammates didn't have his back, he blatantly quits and stops shooting the rest of the game. This didn't happen in the regular season or a relatively non consequential playoff game, he did this shit in Game 7 of the 1976 WCF, with his team up 6 at halftime. The craziest part is the Warriors took the lead early in the 4th with Barry on the bench and he STILL continued not to shoot :lol Dude literally gave away a Finals appearance and a potential title, which would've been his 2nd straight, all because he felt slighted

Hey, Kentatm, glad to see you in this thread.

Quick question, when did you first start being attracted to under age boys?

I'm reading a book called my daddy the pedophile and i see a lot of common traits with you.

I don't troll... you're right, I am too old to.

Legitimate question man... I would have PM'd you if this board allowed it. If you don't want to talk about it that's fine.

I believe he would have gotten his first finals mvp that year if they have won, had the award already existed that time.

Nope, he was not.

In the league with 120 average pace he barely outscored Luka who have todays 99 pace. And he took insane ammount of shots too. And was worse in everything else.

31.5/8.1/3.2 per 36 min vs 29.1/8.4/9.0 for Luka.

And lets not pretend that 3rd best record in 10 team league, or victories over 36-45 and 39-42 teams to get straight to the finals after two rounds is a big deal.

Where do people tend to rank Barry all-time? I suggested top 20 once and everyone on here told me I was crazy.

In the 74/75 season Barry averaged 30.6/5.7/6.2 with 2.9 steals per game. And the Warriors swept the finals that season.

IDK about all time but I'll post some people I believe are clearly below him.

Pierce
Westbrook
Webber
Clyde
Melo
Kidd
Wilkins
Bing

and I could keep going tbh

He is in that Dr J Dirk tier of guy that you can win a championism and make multiple finals building around him , not a lot of guys like that in NBA history

The ABA stuff is hard to assess, he did win a championship and made multiple finals I believe.

Rick Barry barely ever gets mentioned these days. Guy led a team of role players to a championship and was a seriously good scorer and passer. He also had serious range on his shot so he'd be a lot better today.

I remember reading Bill Simmons book and he was talking about that game, he mentioned how he bumped into Rick Barry one time and asked him what happened in that game 7, Rick Barry then proceeded to rip his teammate Clifford Ray for fumbling an easy pass & wold be layup on a pick and roll play late in the 4th quarter. :oldlol:

Dude was a shit teammate, but he was Larry Bird before Larry Bird. Great scorer, great passer, & phenomenal shooter. The only SFs I would take over Barry peak wise are LeBron, Bird, Durant, Dr. J, & maybe Kwahi.

His youngest son is on the US Mens 3v3 basketball team for the Olympics. Shoots granny style free throws, is 21-21 on them in the g-league.
