View Full Version : Does anyone think bron isn't the best player in the league?

I get some may not have him as goat but can we at least agree he's the best player in the league? If not Who's better? Greek still doesn't have a reliable post game, mid or 3. Steph still can't play d. Kawhi still moves like he's 60. Kd still has a repaird Achilles at 32 and luka is still a worse version of bron. Am i missing someone?

As of today no. I could've seen the argument before his injury, but no way the guy we've seen the last 3 games is the best player in the world. He'd have to have a significant improvement in play and production before getting that kind of consideration again

Pretty much what SouthBeach said.
Pre-injury he was still comfortably the BITW and just coasting. But after what I’ve seen so far Curry has the strongest argument. Maybe KD/Harden if they weren’t together.

Nobody actually thinks jokic is the best player just because he's the mvp fav. Was westbrook the best player when he won fmvp? Was harden?

The MVP is definitely not what makes him arguably the best player. I agree with you on that.

Westbrook was not the best player when he won MVP. Harden was not the best player when he won MVP. We agree.

The reason Jokic is arguably the best player right now, is because he's arguably the best player right now.

Seriously people must not have been paying attention to what Jokic has been doing. He has been winning with a starting backcourt of Compazzo and Rivers.

Assuming he can stay healthy Embiid deserves a mention.

Dude jokic hasn't even been the best player this series let alone the league. Unlike most mvps jokic only impacts half the game. He's in the same weak mvp category as harden, steph and nash who couldn't defend for shit

Well you asked about current players. And in comparison to Lebron.

Is Lebron the defender he was in 2013? Is Kawhi the defender HE was a few years ago?

Whose defense is so superior to Jokic right now that it puts them above his outrageously productive offense? As far as Lillard, I have him as a top 5 guy I want on my team in the playoffs. But a guard simply cant make the same difference Jokic can from the center spot.

The only person who really has an argument right now for an impact that rivals LeHung... is Joker. Thats just a fact (IMO).

For careers/GOAT list it is true. He is the best active player.

For current performances it is wrong. He seems so different after the injury, can't attack the rim as he used to. There are better players now:

Jokic
Embiid
Harden
Doncic
Curry
Durant
Davis
Giannis
Lillard
Kawhi

Not a top 10 on active players for now. However it could still be top 3 next month if he recovers well. I hope he can.

Lebron has EARNED the title of BITW Emeritus until the day he retires.

Right but that's kind of the point. Lebron is better. No he isn't the same defender he was a few years ago but he's still a hell of a lot better than jokic.

Ok. But you listed some guys and then asked the question “is there anyone I left out?”

So I simply pointed out you left off the guy who probably has the best case :lol

Lakers' LeBron James says he doesn't think he'll ever get back to '100 percent' healthy in his career

Denver has played their last 15 games without their starting backcourt. They were 10-5 with losses to the Nets, Lakers, clippers and Blazers. Only the Blazers losses were by over 7 points.

He is probably being overly dramatic but high ankle sprains are typically slow to heal. Assuming it heals then he has to get himself back into the same condition he was prior to the injury which would probably be hard to do.

When you get older you can't push yourself as hard in workouts. If you take extended time off it is really hard to get back to the same level you were prior to the break.

I think that title is gone for LeBron.

It is a very similar situation to when Kobe was winning titles. He wasn't the best player in the world, LeBron was, but he won, so the choice was narrowed for people and if you said he was, no one would argue really.

Same thing with Bron. He might win again this year, and people will say it is proof he is the best, but it wouldn't be the case.

He just isn't a better player than Jokic or Curry at this point. Guys like Kawhi, Giannis and Durant I'd have above him too.

Jokic deserves the title at the moment. Look at that team and how they're playing... Nuts.

Kawhi Leonard has a 32.5 PER and a 11.3 BPM

Kawhi's 3rd option and 3rd best player Marcus Morris has a 0.2 PER and a -13.1 BPM

So kawhi is about 30 times better then his 3rd best player in minutes! If morris doesn't get benched, clippers are screwed.

Kobe was still carrying the scoring load for those Lakers (and leading assists), while Lebron is getting carried by AD.

So it's night and day.. In the history of 3-pointer basketball, no one carried the scoring load for the playoffs and Finals of a championship run except one-offs like 84' Bird, 00' Shaq, or 06' Wade, and then 2-timers like 94/95 Hakeem, and 09/10 Kobe... And Jordan's 6 rings.

Furthermore, as a jumpshooter, Kobe allowed good fits with teammates and the best strategy, thus yielding superior team ceilings.. aka Gasol became all-nba and perennial all-star under Kobe.. Otoh, it would be a travesty to see Gasol get "Bosh'd" alongside Lebron with everyone saying he sucks like Love and MOAR HELP NEEDED!!.. yikes.. Kobe was soooo much better than Lebron..

And yes, AD is fortunate to be good enough to make Lebron the "pippen", so AD didn't get cratered like Bosh, Love, or Jamison.

Jokic still has two good players in porter Jr and Aaron Gordon

Kawhi's 3rd best player is Marcus morris who is a -13BPM and has a 0.2 PER. Jordan had hall of famers like Dennis Rodman and Toni kukoc as his 3rd and 4th best players. Marcus morris as your 3rd best player is like if you asked 3ball to play and replace kukoc as a 3rd option and try to win the title!

Oh well, kawhi still has the two goat finals mvps when he stopped two different 3peats

He's definitely not the best player in the league this year, especially since he hasn't been healthy the last few months.

Lebron just had the worst regular season of his career arguably since his second year in the league and in three playoff games, he's only putting up 21/6/9.

You could argue that he is barely a top ten player this year. What's really driving his impact is his BBIQ and his insane amount of NBA experience.

I would take these players for sure over Lebron right now since he clearly isn't healthy.

Jokic, Luka, Kawhi, KD, Curry, Dame, Giannis, Embiid.
