To me, having a cold cut sub from a franchise or wherever heated, it completely draws the salt out of the lunch meat and is inedible.
Cold is the way to go.

It's a close call sometimes, but I tend to prefer my subs heated especially when there's meat on it.

Depends on the bun. Dryer buns need a good toasting. A nice freshly baked soft bun is best cold.

Penn Station - hot
Jimmy Johns are the best cold, Penn Station are the best hot imo

Bread is the most important part to any sandwich by far
toasted ciabatta bread, ham, salami, peperoni, provolone, peppers = insta classic
