Had an extra day off this weekend and finally got around to binge watching this... and damn, felt like season 1 all over again.
This is a must watch show.
Watched the first 2 episodes of season 2 and gave up on that train wreck,... season 3 is the sequel we deserve.
What a F'ing Masterpiece. Just pure greatness.
Looking very forward to Mahershala Ali's version of Blade.

Not as good as Season 1. Season 1 is a masterpiece of film-making. What I liked best about Season 3 was that Stephen Dorff's character was one of the best in the series. To me, he outshined Mahershala. I could have done without the amnesia angle cause it only added an angle of confusion for the viewer, but I'm also glad they tied Season 1 into Season 3 and completely ignored the debacle that was Season 2.

no way. season 3 was good though, and a significant step up over season 2.

All 3 are great
All felt completely different
Sn 1 may be the best premium television ever though
Really sucks that they haven't made a sn 4 yet

Season 1 was great until the last two eps which were trash. I wouldn't call a season that is 25% shite a masterpiece.

Honestly... I thought it was a great love story... something about the actress (Carmen Ejogo) made me really care about the marriage / relationship aspect of it all... the very ending of episode 8 really put a lot of focus on that, which surprised me.

every season has had a memorable shootout scene, but i think they should also feature a titty drop each season

Yea.... Woody Harrelson was pretty much left defenseless against that.
That woman had some serious super powers.

would have made a killing just doing a spinoff on McConaughey in HIDTA and undercover as Crash

Season 3 really was great, and I thought the same thing in the moment, but after re-watching season 1, season 3 just doesn't quite get there for me. And I know a few people who binge watched both seasons over a short period of time, and they were all adamant season 1 was much better after seeing them so close together.
Season 2 actually had a lot of stuff I liked, but it was just tied together horribly, and there was just way too much of the Vince Vaughn and his wife stuff. If they edited it down to focus more on the sex cult, and particularly the Rachel McAdams / Colin Farrell stuff worked for me.
Mare of Eastown wasn't too far removed from being a True Detective season. It's not quite dark enough, and lacks that hint of southern gothic mysticism in spots, but it's ability to create a location felt like a TD thing to me. And I think a big part of it is that in both cases the entire seasons were directed by a single person (which is at least true of TD1), which I think helps create a single identity to the setting.

If it doesn't have an Alexandra Daddario tit-drop scene, it can't be considered a masterpiece.
