Asked the mods to delete my thread on this.

I'm okay with this, although Stevens in the front office is perplexing.

Got him a championship in 2008 & Jayson Tatum, pretty sure he's alright.

Very strange moving Brad Stevens into the GM position.

It got a title to Boston and he was a salary cap fluke away from landing KD with Kyrie and Horford a few years back and putting us back in the Finals.

That said, his post-Big 3 plan bombed and now the Celtics have two studs they are at serious risk of losing to free agency in a few years and a team of late 1st/2nd round guys who should be in the G-League instead of getting serious playoff minutes. That's on him.

Makes sense to me. He’s smart and hard working. Any company’s number 1 priority is retaining people like that. The “roles” arent what’s important. That can be figured out later.

Yep, and even then, they did try to trade for Anthony Davis but he was uninterested in signing an extension. Obviously it ended up a good thing because it turns out Davis SUCKS, but the point is a GM cant control everything and luck plays a big part.

People always think the 29 GMs who didnt win the year immediately prior are garbage. Thats not exactly how it works.

LOL @ Danny

Dude went from being the boss to losing his job to the guy he managed

Realistically though, there are lots of landing spots for him. The Kings should be the first ones knocking on his door.

Are there any coaches out there worthy? I feel like that squad has way too many young players -- it's not balanced well with vets which means it's destined to fail in the post-season.

I said in the Brad Stevens thread that I think Ainge is the problem and not Brad.

Lmao, has that ever happened, from from coach to GM?

Riley?

Whoever takes the job from Brad, I hope Kevin Garnett is a defensive assistant if he wants to be. If ever there were a team that needed a complete lunatic screaming at them about how soft they are, its this Celtics squad.

Smart having the license to shoot 3s anywhere he wants, anytime he wants is ainge's doing? Ainge is a problem for not putting together a better cast but brad to me has his faults.

Brad's coaching leaves a good deal to be desired, but I don't think that's the central problem either.

I think Stevens has potential to build a team that is much better than Danny’s bs. Ainge had the habit of collecting unnecessary pieces

Chris Mannix: As Danny Ainge moves on from Boston, a possible landing spot, in some capacity: The Utah Jazz. (https://*********.com/social/) As rumors of Ainge’s exit rippled through the NBA in recent months, a role with the Jazz has been seen as a potential next step.

You mean on a team that starts Conley, Mitchell and O'Neale with Clarkson off the bench?

Abbott adds that new Utah owner Ryan Smith is "best friends" with Ainge. Smith and Ainge are both from Eugene, Oregon and they both attended BYU.

Well, ainge sucked outside of getting Tatum. So i think that's a good move. Not sure about stevens though, he's a wildcard at this point but him as coach was clearly not working.

I would blow up the entire roster outside of Tatum. Loaded with trash but you have a star in Tatum at least. Oh and a nice gem in Robert Williams.

Smart has overstayed his welcome by like 5 years and Kemba was a bust, brown i would try to trade for lottery picks to get tatum a real star next to him.

Tatum, brown, rob williams, and other young guys like pritchard, langford and nesmith, if they could develop his 3, would be the ones I would keep in the lineup.

Agree Langford seems like a guy that can improve

I don’t think it’s ever a good idea for someone to hold both the GM and head coaching job and it’s a bit perplexing that Brad Stevens got a promotion, but whatever. Oh wait, he’s out as head coach. Well, still weird that he was promoted.
