1 low seed... 1 first round exit

100% losing rate with low seeds... can't carry shit

ultimately, rookie Pippen was an 8 ppg bench-warmer that MJ carried to the 2nd Round or ECF, while Lebron needed a 2-time all-star center to make the 06' Playoffs, along with a 22/5/5 acquisition and the future COY.

So Lebron always had high seeds and decorated teammates in a conference that 1-star teams were winning, while Jordan carried low seeds and undecorated role players in a conference that required a super-team to win it.

This is my first post in I don't know how many years. Have no clue what this sites turned into but anyway, that's another point.

The Lebron Jordan debate is always interesting considering the people continually referencing 1-9. The interesting part is that it's looked at as a slight to MJ for making the playoffs as a rookie/2nd year player whereas Lebron didn't even make it. Clearly he would have got bounced in the first round all 3 seasons that he didn't make the playoffs, unfortunately for him his teams weren't good enough to even make it in the first place.

This is Lebron's first time losing in the 1st Round

Lebron didn't have 1st Round losses previously because his first teams had several seasons to develop in the lottery before entering the playoffs as a favored, high seeds with easy 1st Round matchups.

Otoh, Jordan's first teams were thrown into the playoffs in Year 1 as 8 seeds - so he lost like Lebron just did or like any 8 seed does, especially rookie 8 seeds.

But when Jordan had 3 healthy seasons to develop his team (88'), he won 50 games and made the 2nd Round just like 06' Lebron... In his 4th healthy season (89'), Jordan was vastly outperforming 07' Lebron against the champs.

Lebron carried bums to the playoffs

05' Zydrunas'.... 17/9 and 2.1 blocks.. 19.5 PER.. 0.149 WS/48.. all-star
88' Pippen.......... 8/5 and 0.7 blocks.. 12.9 PER.. 0.066 WS/48.. bench-warmer

Pippen was an 8 ppg rookie that MJ carried to the 2nd Round or ECF, while Lebron needed a 2-time all-star center to make the 06' Playoffs, along with a 22/5/5 acquisition and the future COY.

So Lebron always had high seeds and decorated teammates in a conference that 1-star teams were winning, while Jordan carried low seeds and undecorated role players in a conference that required a super-team to win it.

Lebron carried bums to deep runs

Love was a perennial all-star in 2018 and the best 2nd option in the conference, while Kyrie played half the games in the 15' Eastern Playoffs (including half the ECF games).

And by virtue of being all-stars or all-defenders in 2005, Zydrunas/Hughes weren't "bums" when Lebron made the playoffs in 2006 - they were decorated players that Lebron had begged to join him (see post #15921 (https://forumserver.twoplustwo.com/showpost.php?p=57120736&postcount=15921)).

So Lebron never carried "bums" or low seeds to the playoffs or a deep run, whereas MJ did from 85-89' (he led undecorated role players to the playoffs or deep runs, including with low seeds)... By contrast, Lebron barely won 40 games with the East all-star center in 05', or Rondo/Ingram in 20'.

1-9

Jordan had low seeds - lebron never had low seeds in the playoffs until this year, where he lost in the 1st Round

Btw, the only games the Lakers won were the 2 that AD scored 34 points - otherwise, the Lakers were blown away by epic amount

Lebron, no AD, loses 3 games straight @ age 36.
MJ, no Pippen basically for the entire game 6 of the damn 1998 NBA Finals, drops 45 of his team's 82 pts, game winning steal and game winning shot. At age 35.

It's a joke to even compare LeGED to the GOAT MJ.

Oh, and the team Mike was going against? 62-20 Utah Jazz, with the 2nd leading all-time scorer (Malone) and the all time steals & assists leader (Stockton) who were in the finals the year before. And it was on the road in Utah.

Lebron was f-ing AT HOME going against a team that hadn't made the playoffs in 10 years, had a 1 arm all-star, and lost as many games in a 72 games season as the Jazz did in a full 82.

Facts are indeed awesome.

At the end of the day, Lebron was mostly carried throughout his career. Ray Allen in 2013. Bosh and Wade for 4 years. His partner Kyrie had a 41 point game on 71% shooting in the finals.
When the lights are the brightest he shrinks.

This is why he's not aging gracefully and looked like a sweaty try-hard out there last night. He's not that skilled; just a big tall muscular dude who could run and jump fast when he was younger.

Not a skilled:
Free throw shooter, mid-range shooter, 3 pt shooter, master of the dribble or footwork. Just stiff-arm bullies his way to the rim.
Every year he's been in the league there's a pretty good chunk of players with flat out more skills than him. Booker & CP3 are light years ahead in the skill dept. and so was Kobe, Duncan, KD, Kyrie, and a ton of others.

Michael Jordan defined basketball as we know. The only human I ever saw that could fukking fly and stayed longer in the air than everyone else. The man was against the laws of physics if you ask me, the man had NO WEAKNESSes to his game, NADA, ZERO. Listen you small brain idiot, lebron lost to a team that has their point guard with 1 arm and if hes the GOAT, he should have carried them past this team, but his career has been like that, needs plenty of help to win

What was MJ's postseason stats in his 18th season?

We don't give passes to quitters. Do you?

LeBron in 2010 vs the Celtics.

Last night's beating and being unceremoniously knocked out of the postseason shorthanded in the first round shouldn't be used against him in regards to where LeBron is on the All Time GOAT list, come on people, let's stop trolling and let's be honest...I still have him at #9, could've moved past Hakeem with a deep run but there's always next season...

29 points on 26 shots while four teammates give you double figures and the opposing team’s all-star is playing with 1 arm AND you have home court probably knocks him outside of the top 10 tbh.

Hmmm, that's a bit harsh IMO. Got to take into consideration that the Lakers were missing their best player and the real reason they won the asterisk chip last year though...but fair enough.

Jordan in 1989 vs. the Pistons

Thoughts?

Lebron lost with HCA to an inferior team. #1 seed lost to a #4 seed. While a #6 seed in the Conference Finals lost to a #1 seed.
