Both Kawhi and LeBron had amazing 45-point performance in a crucial Game 6 performance.

Kawhi Leonard against Dallas Mavericks in game 6

45 Points on shooting splits 72/55.5/100 with 84% TS

LeBron James against Boston Celtics in game 6

45 points on shooting splits 73.1/50/55.6 with 75.1% TS

------

But as the title says, whose performance was more impressive do you think and why?

One game was much more important. Also faced better competition and a semblance of actual defense.

The way guys on here over react about one game is kinda weird.

Probably Lebron's game considering it came against a better defense. 2012 was peak Lebron. But honestly how performances are judged also depends on the ultimate outcome of the series. If the Clippers win Game 7 and go on to win the title, the value of this performance will increase. If they lose Game 7 it will be at best a minor footnote in his career.

Probably Kawhi's game since he had the disadvantage of having only 1 HOF teammate drawing doubles as opposed to 2.

Could be a tie.

That and he shut down Luka on the other end.

Kawhi hit more clutch shots and his game had better aesthetics.

Both were important although Bron's had more on the line. Up until that point, he hadn't won a ring and if Miami drops that game, they blow it up. Never seen Lebron more 'locked in' than in that game.

Kawhi had a nice game but nothing compared to LeBron's

https://i.postimg.cc/Y9Fv8WY1/45.15.5_greatest_game.png

They're not comparable.

LeBron was facing the #1 defense and Boston big 3. Not a young rookie and a unicorn.

LeBron also had no help from Wade, Bosh, Chalmers, Miller, Cole or Battier. He outscored all of them combined.

Kawhi had massive help. Jackson and George combined scored 45.

Doesn’t compare. Kawhi was playing with no one who won finals mvp while Lebron had peak Wade who won finals mvp as the man.

2012 ECF Game 6 (LeBron's help)
Wade: 17 on 35%
Bosh: 7 on 38%
Combined: 24 on 36%

2021 WCSF Game 6 (Kawhi's help)
Jackson: 25 on 53%
George: 20 on 40%
Combined: 45 on 47%

:lol

Kawhi for sure. Celtics had a better team defense but not like they had any lockdown defensive wings or perimeter players. Their only wing defender was who? Mickael Pietrus? :oldlol:

Pierce, KG and Ray were fossils and PG Rondo was probably their best perimeter defender.

Luka now is far better than anyone on the 12 Celtics and Kawhi played great defense on him too. The Mavs while a worse offense are a FAR better offense so holding them to 97 in this era where everyone scores 100+ in their sleep is more impressive.

The 2012 Celtics were 27th in offense, literally bottom 3 in the league and barely scraped by in 7 games to the Iggy and Jrue led Sixers :oldlol: they had like 1 100pt game that whole anemic series :lol

Kawhi wins this because he not only scored 45 points but guarded Luka the entire game and locked him down. Also Luka is in the beginning of his prime, while KG\Pierce\Allen were all kind of past their prime at that point.

Lmaoo. Bosh just came back from injury and played limited minutes.

LeBron came out and dropped 30 in 1 half, he hardly tried after. He could have gone for 55.

He also did this against a much better defense so the discussion is over really.

^^ kind of?

Garnett was 35 and Allen was 36.. Pierce was 34

Otoh, Jordan beat Isiah, Dumars and Rodman when they were in their 20's

LeBron

More pressure
Against a way better defense
Had less help from his cast, Reggie and PG both put in work last night whilst LeBron was a one man wrecking crew

Lebron slightly, but they were both legendary performances. Not worth really dissecting, just give both players their credit.

35 is not that old with todays medicine

LeBron just came off one of the most dominant seasons of his career at age 35

Yes, but KG had his injury in '09, and Allen/Pierce were never elite defensive players to begin with. Celtics used a lot of Brandon Bass against Lebron, and it's not because Bass was an elite defensive player, it's just because he had the size to match up with him. Teams dared Lebron to beat him on jump shots, and Game 6 is when he finally made them at a great rate. They dared him to beat them from mid-range, and to his credit, he did.
