It's not just rhythm. Each time he gets injured he loses some mobility and explosion and it takes a while for it to come back if does come back. What he can bring defensively is a big part of his game. Unfortunately, I fear the injuries have altered his trajectory as a player permanently.

And to avoid injury, he doesn't wanna play inside. He always had issues rebounding and playing physical. He was a beast for the Knicks on putback dunks. He's one of the unicorns because he could block Giannis on 1 end and then hit a 3 from 30 feet.

Yes I was high on him with the caveat that he not get injured. His unicorn-ness is reliant on him retaining his athleticism. Otherwise his game falls apart. unfortunately the repeated injuries have altered his career trajectory. I disagree that he's soft or anything like that but people love to shit on players for being soft or having no skill when injuries derail them. Just look at fan opinion of Deron Williams.
