Suppose you were offered the ability to become one of the top 10 players in any sport. US, foreign, pro, amateur. You get all the benefits which come from being a top 10 player, but you also assume all of the risks. Which sport do you choose? And why?

Golf. Long career, great pay, not much risk of injury.

This. Massive window for winning money.
Can't be many other sports where you can still be competitive well into your late 40s having started over 20 years earlier.

Ya but you're stuck playing golf for a living. So an overall L.
Why play it safe in regards to injuries when you can be a pro in any sport? Do you not enjoy the sport enough that money shouldn't be an issue considering you'll be making a lot either way? For me, asketball because I actually enjoyed playing the sport before my knees gave out and can live out my childhood fantasy. Soccer would be my #2.

Fair enough.
In that case if we are going for a sport you would actually like to play I am going to go with tennis. Not because it is a childhood dream - quite the opposite - I only took it up last year (during lockdown) and it seems like a pretty cool sport to excel at. On the rare ocassion that I hit a good shot it feels great. Can only imagine how great it must feel to absolutely smash an excellent, winning shot in a grand slam tournament in front of a packed house.

The thing is playing a sport for a living isn't really that enjoyable. The most enjoyable is when you're out at the park with your friends just competing and laughing it up. With golf you should have plenty of free time to do that.

You are always giving me a gay vibe. It won't surprise me if you are a homosexual.

I would choose golf as well. In addition to the reasons given above, another big one for me is that you're your own boss. You might have a coach, a trainer, a dietician, but they work for you. You can fire them any time you want. You can skip practice any time you want with no repercussions. You can pick and choose the tournaments you want to participate in. If you're having a bad round, the only person you're accountable to is yourself.

Golf is a good choice, I never thought about it.
Other than that, football (soccer). The feeling of scoring a goal with 80.000 people cheering must be awesome.

I realized another good argument for golf. You can live where you want. If you like to be where it's warm and sunny, you buy a house in SoCal or Florida or wherever. No worries that you'll be traded to Green Bay or Buffalo and have to move up north.
