Neither Mutombo nor Ben were good offensive players - Dwight wasn't a versatile scorer either - I don't see that huge of a difference. Gobert is obviously the best defensive center in a league your ilk claims is the most talented ever.

Maybe cause I'm older now, nostalgia kicking in, when I was younger watching guys like Big Ben and Dwight locking it down I held it in higher regard than I do when I watch Gobert. Maybe in 10 years time I'll really appreciate Rudy, but for now yeah doesn't seem right

Back then they had the chance. League was still iso driven and centers still camped alot, because neither did the opposite center drag them to the 3 or high pnrs were spammed to target the opponents center. Rudy does an excellent job given the possibilities in this league. Doubt Ben or Mutombo would look much better given their style. Dwight could. Athletically he would fit right in.
