Agree. I think their will be an increase in the numbers again during the winter time compared to now(most likely around the holidays), but not as bad as the previous year due to the vaccine rollout by then and the large amount of people who have recovered and now have natural immunity.

Again, as I've posted earlier, based on the data, the main reason for the decline seems to be prior immunity, seasonality, followed by vaccinations (though so far the data on vaccinations decreasing prevalence of Covid-19 is lacking or simply no correlation found).

We're currently at ~140 million cumulative infections per latest CDC estimate. Most Americans have been exposed to the virus, many simply didn't become infected.

Virus seems highly regional/seasonal, following a strong correlation to Hope-Simpson pattern - as shown in several of my previous posts.

We have ~140 million cumulative infections in the US so far per CDC's latest model. Seasonality also plays a huge role, as shown in previous posts. This is the main reason why the numbers are down.

I haven't seen much evidence that testing methods have caused the decline. And yeah, I think vaccinated people who test positive are still counted as a Covid-19 case, regardless of hospitalization.

Physicians and dentists haven't been wearing surgical masks "for years" to prevent the asymptomatic transmission of respiratory viruses transmitted by aerosols. I'm not sure the best way to "make them free" either... different areas have different mask requirements and different people use more/less masks than others, so how exactly would "making them free" work?

A better question is: what have been the costs and benefits of masks so far? What is the achievable goal of masks?
