View Full Version : The 2011 Finals matters - it must cancel out one of Lebron's best series

Lots of people will choose to cancel the 16' Finals, but I prefer the 2013 Finals - Lebron got more lucky and played like garbage in that series.

So Lebron has 3 rings and only 2 as the top producer.

Lebron cost Wade a ring and FMVP - that's no small thing and can't be ignored

Teammates always look amazing alongside Durant, so he elevates teammates - his scoring and jumpshooting is partially assisted, which elevates teammates' role, while Lebron's has a simple Westbrook or Wall skillset that reduces teammates to spot-up shooter.

So I already have KD ahead of Lebron.. The fact that he just beat a top team while playing better than lebron ever has only confirms it.

Btw, the goat must have all-time jumpshooting skill from either mid-range, threes or FT's, so Lebron is disqualified

Shaq and Lebron were tremendous physical talents whose skillsets were often solved and demolished by less athletic teams, like the 98' Jazz, 04' Pistons, 11' Mavs, 14' Spurs or Warriors.

So I have both borderline top 10.

His jumpshooting and iso skill are leaps and bounds over LeBron. I'll take Durant's elite scoring and defense over holding the ball and chasing rebounds/assists. Which is what LeBron has done since time immemorial. Rings are part of your career though. So a lead dog ring looks nice on a resume, especially one that you carried in.

Past prime Shaq destroyed the Pistons in '04, it was Kobe who shot them out of the series. Shaq also averaged 32/9 on 56% shooting vs Utah in '98 while Eddie Jones and a 19 year old Kobe shit the bed.

Baseball Jordan

He was swept by basketball Jordan, even though his sidekick was destroying Jordan's.

95' Jordan returned to a .500 ballclub and went 13-4 - then he carried them to another 3-peat in his first full seasons back... No one carried teams better than prime Jordan (88-98')

Not quite. The year before LeBron returned to Cleveland, Kyrie was All-NBA and an All-Star. But in 2016 he was neither. You can speculate and say its because LeBron ballhogged. Or chased stats and turned teammates into spot-up shooters. Whatever the case being, Kyrie put his head down in the playoffs - and went to work :applause:

Lebron's lower brand of ball-dominance yields weaker teams and elevates teammates less than Durant's all-time jumpshooting

Lebron/Kyrie were favored in the preseason over Curry/Klay and should've had a 70-win juggernaut.

So that's on Lebron for producing a whimpering 50-something win team

Don't turn around and brag about winning in 7 games with the vastly better cast and initial expectation.. Klay is nowhere near Kyrie and on what planet should Curry/Klay beat Lebron/Kyrie.. it's preposterous

This. Wasn't the whole narrative that the Cavs would have beat the Warriors with a healthy team in 2015? So why did the media and the Lebronsexuals re-write history and act as if beating them in 2016 was some great all-time achievement, when the Warriors were the injured team the following year + the Draymond suspension?

Maybe it has something to do with the Warriors being more experienced in 2016, Curry having an all-time great offensive season, & winning 73 games. Warriors were the favorites to win that series, the fact that Bron came back from a 3-1 deficit made it an even greater story.

All I'm hearing is excuses. Steph played on one leg after injuring his knee in the first round, Bogut had a season-ending knee injury in the game Draymond was suspended in and Iguodala got injured in Game 6 as well. The comeback was only possible due to the suspension + Steph not being healthy + injuries to Bogut and Iguodala. Lebron wasn't doing shit in that series prior to Game 5.

That's what y'all said tho. The narrative was that the 73 - 9 Warriors ADDED Durant, when in fact they gave up 2 starters and lost some bench depth to make it happen, which is why bums like Zaza, Swaggy P and Becky With The Good Hair got significant Playoff minutes.

No mention of Kevin Love being injured in that very same 2016 Finals? Curry averaged 28/6/6 on 61 TS% in the WCF, but because he shit the bed in the Finals you use the injury excuse. Curry himself said "I'm back!" at one point in the playoffs. :oldlol:

Curry was mediocre for most of the WCF, he was amazing in those 3 straight wins but he wasn't close to 100%. Bogut's injury led to the Warriors subbing in Ezeli in the 4th quarter of that Game 7, which led to 6 quick points for Lebron and which IMO cost them the game as much as anything else.

He was healthy to finish the series and came up big in Game 7. He wasn't a great fit against the Warriors overall, the Richard Jefferson piece gets underrated here, as they won Game 3 without Love with him starting and having great impact on both ends of the court.

I'm being objective here. Cavs lost Irving & Love in 2015 and they still went 6 games and had the opportunity to go up 3 - 1 in the series, so the narrative was that the Cavs would have beat the Warriors at full strength, which is what they were in 2016, with the Warriors having injuries to Steph, Bogut & Iggy with Draymond suspended for one of the closeout games.

Curry was just fine it seems

No, he wasn't. Portland and OKC weren't smart enough to expose his lack of lateral quickness/movement and he had some big 3PT shooting nights in those series. The Cavs were a superior team and took advantage of it, reducing him to contested 3s and without giving him any looks in the paint. A healthy Steph embarrassed Love(and Lebron) 1 on 1 every time the year after.

2012 - lock out season vs 22 and 23 year old choke artists, asterisk
2013 - bron brick, bosh board, ray allen bang, old Duncan, asterisk
2016 - Adam Silver, asterisk
2020 - bubble, asterisk

2011 - goat choke in basketball history -1 ring at least

LeBron is at -1 rings. Fringe top 25 of all time.

Minus 1 ring sounds like top 25,000 tbh

His whole career is a Hollywood sham. He put that dress on in that Progressive commercial for a reason.

Boy sold his self out for fame. Took it right up the ass.

Now hes got a Space Jam 2 deal.

It did cancel out a Finals because it cancelled out his chance of winning in 2011.
