View Full Version : Why didn't LBJ's stats inflate in bubble play? How come no pressure didn't help him?

Everyone says the bubble stats were inflated due to less pressure from the fans/crowd, clearer baselines, opposing benches moved back, same court each night, etc. Many players even had increased bubble stats, such as:

-T.J.Warren
-Jamal Murray
-Donovan Mitchell
-Tyler Herro
-Jimmy Butler
-Caris Levert
-Michael Porter
-Gary Trent Jr.

But none of these bubble conditions helped LeBron. Why not? Because he has always been playing under "no pressure" conditions his whole life. So he didnt get a boost. This was his norm all along.

Basically LeBron was facing the biggest disadvantage in the 2020 playoffs and still won again.

2020 Playoffs
28/11/9 on 56%

2020 Finals
30/12/9 on 59%

That's the benefit of the superteam. You dont have to change your game. Just statpad as you usually do and let the kyrie's do what you can't.

I agree.

Played in the most difficult playoff setting in nba history.

Mentally toughest player ever.

Doesn't need 1.5 seasons off for Load Management.

+1

There's a reason Kyrie didn't want the smoke. It takes a mental juggernaut to win under these lockdown prison rules.

Because he was too busy being outscored by AD. The same AD who led the Lakers in playoff points, and anchored their defense. Class in in session.

Thought we were talking about numbers? :confusedshrug: Tell us why AD led the Lakers in playoff points and o-rebounds. While you're at it explain why AD was also their best defender. Don't deflect either lol

But you were already told why. LeBron was #2 to AD, the Lakers alpha. This makes inflation irrelevant. If you need more educating though checkout their On/Off data.

anthony davis was the Lakers #1 guy up until the finals when lebron could just toy with a fake finals rep from Miami so his stats weren't mind blowing. lebron basically coasted to a bubble buddy ring

LeBron finished with more MVP votes than AD in 2020 and was the unanimous Finals MVP, we all know who the best player on that team was, infact LeBron was the league's best player last year as well. People who says otherwise are misinformed, or trolling.

Not true. AD clearly had more impact. The Lakers were better with him on the court than with LeBron.

Wrong, they were 1a and 1b throughout the playoffs up until the Finals when LeBron completely dominated while AD just marveled at his greatness.

Wait...You claim that LeBron can't go all the way and needs someone like Kyrie to win but when the situation is reversed you claim it is all AD?

They did inflate his stats. Look at his numbers this Playoff series vs. Crowder, compared to what he did vs. Crowder and Butler in the Finals in the bubble. No AD as well, so Lebron had no excuse not to be more aggressive, yet he was reduced to a spot-up 3PT shooter because he was scared of attacking the paint.

So he put up same numbers in the Finals in year 17 as he did in his prime, yet the next year he couldn't score 30 against a worse team with the same primary defender once...

lebron was too busy being a 2 way player for his team. he had to shut down jimmy butler while also dropping a 30 point triple double. what more can you ask from a guy.
