Rebounding is one of the most important phases of the game of basketball. Rebounding gives a team possession of the basketball, and each possession helps both a team's offense and their defense and ultimately helps a team win basketball games.

I don't think I've ever heard anyone try to argue that rebounds aren't important. But leave it to the usual suspects to cherrypick ONE thing and ignore all the other things that are also important. Loooowwwww IQ.

A team will be worse if the SG gets 10 rebounds and competes with bigs for rebounds

So rebounding is a positional stat and irrelevant in a comparison between guard and forward.

Regardless, Jordan was the better offensive rebounder and led the Bulls in APG and RPG in the 97' Playoffs (both Jordan and Rodman averaged about 8 RPG)

You are dumb.. LeBron is a better defensive rebounder which means he’s better at not giving teams 2nd chances. LeBron can guard 1-5 positions at an elite level and actually played center a lot of times in Miami and Cleveland so this whole competing for rebounds is dumb otherwise LeBeast would average 20 rebounds a game.

If Lebron can guard 1-5 on an elite level why didn't he check Dirk in 2011? Check the tape.

Nah. He's not elite at tracking the ball, nor does he always box out his man, especially the older version. He's usually defending the corner 3 and he'll let the guy shoot the open 3 to get the rebound, he hasn't played defense since 2016.

Yes he is, coming away with 50/50 balls was always one of his strengths. That's why I had Lebron over Durant in 12 and 13. He always seemed to be in the right place at the right time and Durant didn't

He's good, but not elite. Maybe it's just because I've been watching an older Lebron these past 3 years, but he gives up on defense to get the potential rebound. Obviously, a peak Lebron played harder and got a ton of rebounds because he played at the 4/5 against smaller teams. Go look at his rebounding numbers when he went up against the likes of Hibbert & David West, he wasn't beating them to the ball nor was he bigger/stronger.

Not really. Most rebounds are defensive ones and alot of those are fairly easy because the the defensive rebounder is usually in better position because they're on d and in front of the offensive player. Offensive rebounds are the better indicator of a great rebounder but even the better rebounders only get a couple of those

I like Bill Russell's genius explanation as to how basketball play is maximized.

"...There are certain things that you have to know to be an outstanding athlete in any sport. There's offense and defense and there are things that you can do as an individual to impact the game without having your hand or your foot on the ball.

I used to break it down. There are 48 minutes in a game. It takes a second -- a second-and-a-half, maybe two seconds -- for a three point shot. And if you add up all the shots taken in a game -- free throws don't count because the clock stops -- but if you take all the seconds added up shooting and rebounding it comes to about three minutes. Now out of a 48-minute game three minutes are concerned with shooting and rebounding. What is going on the other 45 minutes?"
